How can a GM-Frigidaire washer agitate up-and-down without bumping and pushing the lid open on each up stroke of the agitator? I was wondering about this once. |

The tubs were very deep and the agitator didn't go up and down say more than 2-3 inches or so. I've seen some that were marked "Fridgidaire Jet-Action Washer" by GM, but how long were they billed as such? They definitely made a very particular sound. Once you hear one, you'll never forget it. |

All so right you are about not ever forgetting the sound. Did you ever get to have the experience of being in a total Frigidaire-equipped laundromat? That's a sound one will never forget either. Closest I've come to that was the 2001 convention in Minneapolis with 4-5 of them going at once. Yee haw!!!

I was maybe 7 or 8 y.o. the year we went to the Jersey shore and we went to an all-Frigidaire laundromat. Oh the joyful (LOUD) sounds of 15+ machines all chugging away at once. I think they had 24 (12 adjoining oneanother)along with a couple of Double & Triple loaders off to one corner. The heat from the dryers, the smell of chlorine bleach, Tide, Downey....what a memory :-) |
