I have one

It's a POS... well, not a piece, but a whole one.

All Eggos I know (from people from the brazilian community at Orkut and other people that post complaints on a consumer rights website and also my unit) have two screws on the lid that start rusting on the first week of use. This machine should come with a free sample of oxalic acid LOL.

Mine has serious troubles with the control board. It's random. sometimes it works perfectly, other times it freezes during the wash and will remain washing for days, until I remove the plug from the outlet. Other times it happens during the drain.

I took it to the authorized service, they told me the machine is absolutely perfect.

The brazilian law is very clear. if the problem persists for more than 30 days, the consumer is free to choose between a refound or replacement by the same model or an upgrade if the model is discontinued.

Whirlpool (after 1 year with the same problem) just phoned me and the stupid attendant said: "I'm sorry sir, we don't care about what the law says, our internal politics says we never replace and we never give money back. I understand your position but I can't do anything because rules are rules.

Without the issues above, It's a good machine. It's rollover is fantastic like the Bendix Economat. It has an impeller instead of an agitator but it reverses so fast that the wash action looks like it has an agitator.
Also, the ozone generator really works and the result is amazing. It bleaches the whites without using chlorine. the colors become more brighter and it also deodorize.

Today I took it (by the 7th time) to the authorized service, just to give them a last chance before I sue them.

Have a look at the thread I created about other Brastemp model: The explosive front loader they launched recently.

It washes 1kg of clothes (4 large T-shirts)

Perfect to wash socks and underwear or that single red shirt that bleeds.

It doesn't spin.

Thomas, what about the black out ?

Post# 392706 , Reply# 8   11/12/2009 at 06:22 (5,272 days old) by thomasortega (El Pueblo de Nuestra Señora de Los Angeles de Porciúncula)

Well, my city wasn't affected., but 18 states became completely dark from 10 pm to 6am.

Yesterday, some regions ran out of water because the water treatment stations didn't work during the blackout.

It wascaused by a storm that destroyed some transmition lines and triggered the safety system that shuts down the system to avoid overloads.

the system caused something like a chain reaction.

It's amazing to imagine a monster dam like Itaipu shutting down all it's 20 huge turbines at the same time.

each one of the turbines has almost the same diameter as a soccer field.

Domino effect

That's the second hidroelectric power plant in the world.... I wish I were there to watch the by-pass drain while the downtime :)

Anyway, they we been quite fast to reset the electric network.

We had the very same thing some year ago. A line coming from Switzerland was cut by a storm about 2.00 am. we hadn't power until 5.00 pm

Itaipu dam :

The following video shows the smallest part of an Itaipu's turbine, the axis.

by it's "tiny" one can imagine how big is the turbine.

The spiral where the water accelerates before reaching the turbine is divided in several segments, each one of them weights "only" 1000 ton.

Was it all of Paraguay that went dark as well?

95% of Paraguay

But as the turbines dedicated to Paraguay could be restarted quickly, their blackout lasted only 15 minutes in some areas and 30 minutes in other areas.

Ciudad del Este, the city next to Iguassu had a 10 seconds blackout.

Here in Iguassu absolutely nothing happened and I just realized there was something happening about 1 hour after the blackout started, when I heard the EBS tone from my neighbour's TV.
