What great finds Robert!!! Good for Fred!! A beautiful Kenmore for sure, perfect for the collection.(Ducking and running)!! Love that 30 cup coffee maker too. Is it a Cory? Just perfect for those sheik dinner parties you'll be having for the holidays! A nice Eureka as well. A good day I would say!!

before you blame anyone for making you anschlepp anything, do remember, we have archives on you and your "discoveries" going back quite a while.

Seriously, I am totally jealous. That coffee urn is to die for.

Gee, I wonder what they're for? *giggle*

When you get over your suds-returnophobia, I'll transgender;'D

Deal?

Of course, you could fill the sink with fresh hot water, the let the K pump it into the agitating tub, add the soap and watch the magic and have the all fun without reusing suds.

"Fred made me" Ha! It was jealousy, plain and simple!!!

A suds-saver, what a treat. And green. Will you put this next to the ABC, GE & Frigidaire where it belongs?

modern German

panthera's profile picture
Same basic meaning, but many neutral variations on the root.
If you speak English and German, you can follow Yiddish. If you have Yiddish well enough to speak it, you can pick up modern German in two shakes, but not English.

The Germanic group is not exactly the most logically structured language group.

I referred to "anschleppen" which is modern German, not Yiddish, partly because the pumping mechanism in the washer has a "Mitnehmer" and just couldn't resist the word play after Sam mentioned those two drains. (Mitnehmen, the root, means literally: to take with...)

Beautiful Kenmore find Robert. I know this is not quite within your time range for a collection piece, but this was worth it. My friend growing up had one exactly like this but his was white, and not a suds model. Whoever owned this took care of it; as it is pristine.

If you decide you don't want to keep it, I highly recommend you keep Gordon/Kenmoreguy64 in mind for it. I am sure he would like this washer, and it would be a first step in replacing the collection he was robbed of earlier this week.

Have a good one,
James

The fehrkockta timer cam assembly is cracked in half and allowing this to happen. I took the timer apart and it crumbled in my hands.

I've pulled the 'tator out (had to use the agi-tamer) and now out to the curb it goes.

If anyone would like this machine, let me know ASAP as trash pickup is on Tuesday.

You'll need a replacement timer and agitator.

Great finds!

Very cool Robert. We had that same Hoover Quick Broom growing up! Very noisy, but had lot's of suction! Nice machine; we had the same one, sans the sudsaver, at my house growing up. Too bad about the timer.

Nice use of yiddish, too! :)

I like the Eureka vac, but of course I LOVE the Kenmore. I believe I have a spare timer for that washer, and I just had my hands today on two spare gold Roto-Swirls.

Just sent you an e-mail Robert! :-) James is right, this would be a nice consolation after loosing 21 washers this week to thieves.

Oy, that 'Kenmo's a farshlepteh krenk. Just as well to get rid of it.
That Eureka, on the other hand is an ek velt vacuum. Light in weight and not too klotzy to handle.

Nu? What is this "yinglish" night or something?

Oh, and there are dialects of yiddish that contain little german. Galantzaner yiddish popular in Poland and throughout the Pale had lots of Polish and "Rooshin" in it. And before the holocaust, Poland had the largest concentration of Jews in the world. If I listen to it for a while I can start to understand some of it, but I do not recognize as much of it as the more germanic version. Like most Jewish children of my age I grew up hearing all different kinds of yiddish dialects.
(I'll bet Tom can add some interesting observations to this thread.)

My grandparents OBM spoke it thinking us kids wouldn't understand what they were saying.

Whatever.

Robert, just curious, are you going to use the agitator in a different machine, or is it just for your collection?

It's one of the most effective yet gentle agitators ever designed, it would be a shame to not put it to use.

Sorry about the washer wow you and Greg could have would have been twins !
I have the same problem with the dial not really the same, but the plastic piece fell apart I was wondering is there any part shop that you would know of, or any suggestions on this dial. I am afraid to even take it off because the darn thing might even get worse here is the dial.
The c part is dropping back and forth aaaah. yuck !

You could probably fit the pieces back together with CA glue. It can be purchased at any hobby shop. People routinely us it to build model airplanes, so it shouldn't be a problem with plastic parts.

Either you will have to glue it back together or find one off of another parts machine Darren, I did check my dial stash for it when you first posted the machine and I don't have that one.

Robert, just curious, are you going to use the agitator in a different machine, or is it just for your collection?
It's just a play-toy Jeff, since it was one of the three agitators of the three washers we had growing up. I'll use it every once in a while for old time sake. I can't say its my favorite.

We've been dealt a little challenge today but we're rolling with it....

The timer I have for this gem of a washer had a bent shaft, courtesy of a lousy packing job and a careless ebay seller a while back. I bought a whole box of misc. timers and they were all thrown together, unpacked. Naturally, this was the only one with apparent damage.

I tried to correct the bend, but said timer didn't cooperate and now I have a broken timer thanks to cheap soft metal (it's a 9-step process in admitting in here that you've broken something!!!).

To the rescue is a parts house I work with that had a new timer on the shelf in obsolete inventory. It's mine and on it's way, so now not only does this beaut Kenmore get a replacement timer, it gets a NEW one.

Hopefully I'll be able to take the part from the old timer and correct the spare used timer just in case....

YAY! (learned that term on here, btw....)

Gordon

Actually the gold agitator matches the gold trim on the panel from my angle. I don't think it's bad, but I love greens and golds... It's something I'd totally do (you haven't seen my white/green/gold frankensteined Hoover have you?)
