I have had my SQ top loader for almost 4 years and have had no issues at all to date. However, yesterday I noticed that during some loads, I am hearing an intermittent squeal during agitation. Very weird - there is no pattern I can identify so far. It happened with a small load and a full load, and not at all with another load. It doesn't last for a consistent amount of time either and I have no idea what this could be. The only thing that I could determine is that it happens on the backstroke of the agitation, if that makes any sense.

Funny thing is that last weekend I thought I heard it, but it started and stopped so quickly, i thought I was imagining things.

Of course I am always worried about water leaks since my main tub seal issue with the 2000 Goodman built Amana whose main seal failed after three years.

Any ideas?

I had that same issue with a solid tub with the brake....during agitation the tub would want to move with the load and the brake would "squeek".....annoying.....I shot some lithium gease onto the brake to make the noise stop and allow it to slip a little....machine didn't stop real fast after a spin....but I rather had that than that noise!

Question:...on machines with rubber boots and seals, if accessable, should we lubricate these with gease or oil to keep them pliable and not prone to dry rot and splitting....
