Hotpoint 18680 is sick

Well this last week I thought it time to prepare the machines for the cold snap, it’s been so mild up to know, so put a load in the 18680 on program 2 with no softener to make sure it was clean before removing the sump hose.

The suspension was shocking, really creaking and groaning so that needs looking at in the spring, think the dampers are OK it's the pivots that have gone, don’t now if you can get them anymore or will newer one fit from current models??

Then the valve for the softener stuck open and had to be encouraged to close with a thump.

And the icing on the cake, the weight has come loos agene on the last spin, this was a total disaster.

So I have a lot to remedy in the spring, (to cold to work in the garage) the 95622 bearings and all the above on the 18680. My dad likened it to a vintage car, you always have to fix things, take it out on the road only to have something different go wrong.

If any one knows if there are parts which will help fix the suspension please let me know? Thanks Lee

Checkrate/Likes *Hiya Lee* Thats the thing with all these old machines. Solve one thing, then another issue rears its ugly head. All our machines are stored for the winter and wont be brought out till the spring, having been given time to loose some of their shivers. Oh to have a heated room, with nice cosy temperatures and no condensation risks. Ah well - still waiting on that lottery win. Good luck with the repairs - loads of sources of advice and info on this forum! Look forward to hearing about the reapiars, when the time comes. Paul

Checkrate/Likes Lovin the set up in the garage lee, mine are all lined up. I feel your pain, i'm braving the cold, cup of tea in hand for a towel load on cotton 60 in the bosch! Darren

Checkrate/Likes *Vintage Machines* Hey Lee, all par for the course with the vintage stuff!!, as long as they arnt connected to mains pressure then there will be enough slack in the pipes to allow for expansion if ever you hit freezing!! One other way is those wall mounted pro fan heaters with a frost setting, even on just blow 9no heat)it tends to move the air around and take the tinge off the appliances....not too easy in the lockups though!! The workbench is looking good, looking forward to seeing your hybrid come to life next year!!...Mike
