I have a DE309 Maytag electric dryer that needs the rear dryer drum seal replaced. I yanked the old one off. What is the best method to remove the remaining seal and residue? The local parts house sold me a replacement seal and ordered the adhesive. Instead of the hi-temp adhesive that I asked for, a tube of rubber adhesive came. Is this ok to use? What is the best way to glue on the new seal - put a bit of adhesive on the metal at a time and press on the seal or what? One or two beads of adhesive, or smooth it over the whole area that the seal will touch? This is my first attempt to do this and I don't want to have to do it again due to wrong technique. I appreciate your help. Many thanks in advance.

I would use Maytag hi-temp adhesive only. It did the trick for me and the seal has never come loose. I assume it's still available.

Thanks. I'll try to change out the adhesive with the parts house. Tell me about the "technique" you used in installing the new one.
