Hello,

I've really enjoyed your website for a few years now! I like Maytag items and I know this site focuses more on a few other makes but its very interesting still.

My question is this: I have a Maytag Jetclean dishwasher from about 1991, model WU104. It's in very good condition. The racks have no worn or rusted places and the tub has no rust or chipped porcelain. I've taken it apart and readjusted and cleaned it up. But recently a part has worn out that makes it unserviceable. This model had the motor directly under pump assembly not off to the side and linked to the pump with a belt. The rubber seal that kept water from leaking down around the pump shaft to the motor wore out and water started rusting and pitting the shaft ruining the seal. As far as I can tell the motor is good. All I need is the shaft and bearing assembly.

I've looked at diagrams and it looks like the entire motor will need to be replaced because the shaft and bearing assembly is the top part of the motor.

This won't come as a surprise to you and your members but I can't find a source of the motor alone. Everyone wants to sell me the entire motor pump sprayer arm assembly at almost $300.00. It's a good dishwasher but spending that kind of money on it would just be irresponsible. And I can't afford it either - lol.

Are you or any of your members aware of sources for this part or rebuilders that can be of assistance here?

Also, I have a Maytag LAT 970 4AAE and the clock dial needs rebuilding, refurbishing. Are you aware of any sources for this service. I could probably do this myself if I had good information so if you are aware of sources for manuals this would be helpful.

I really appreciate any assistance and keep up the work on a great site!

Is this ebay linked pump/motor assembly the one you need? Keep searching ebay now and then if not, odds are the one you need will come up for a reasonable price.

Try Midwest Timer Service for your LAT timer - rebuilt timers for modern machines are still plentiful.

Well, sounds like you're in luck!

I have a 1990 WU204 with a dime size rust hole on the side of tub, and with much sadness, will have to part with it. The motor works flawlessly (always has) and the entire unit has never once required a single repair in 20 years. When I pull this unit out, you're more than welcome to the motor, as well as any other parts you may need for future repairs. I was hoping to find someone that could use the parts off of her as it seriously pains me to throw away a 100% functional unit that has served me so very well.

Hey, thanks everyone! Gansky1, it appears to be very similar even though those pics are not so good. My motor model is S62NXJKR-7330; 1/3 hp; 5.1 amps where the ebay unit is 5.3 amps. Also, it is listed as a Whirlpool unit - not sure about interchangeability. Is there any way to cross reference replacement parts to see if they will match?

Qsd-dan, definately keep me in mind when you pull that washer. Any idea when you will be getting around to that?

Again, thanks all!

I'll probably be removing the machine later this week. I need to get some video/audio footage for memory sake before the pillaging begins. I guess I'll let it clean one last Christmas gathering load :(

Will there be a proper funeral or will you just get in there and strip that puppy? LOL! Would you like a box of Kleenex for all those tears?

BTW, whatever will fill those big shoes of the reverse rack?

Funeral first, then strip. It's comforting to know that pieces of the machine will live on though. At least that's what I keep telling myself, lol.

Thanks!
