Does anyone have any more or other information and photos of the 1970-1971 pushbutton programmed "18 lb" washers? Models: WWA-9600J and WWA9500-L.

Do you make those pictures on your computer? If so you do one hell of a job!

Hopefully, bajaespuma can also share that information with us as well.

Thank you.

I do it with a program called "FreeHand". It's an old program out of California that a friend of mine turned me on to about 6 years ago. It's been surpassed, I'm sure by Adobe Illustrator, which, if in some more intelligent future, I don't have to pay 700 a month for health insurance, maybe someday I'll be able to purchase.

GE's programmed washers have a long history. They started in 1958 with this model:

and went all the way to about 1975 with the WWA9600J when GE succumbed to lackluster sales probably caused by CU declaring that these TOL's, although always with the best bells and whistles, weren't even as versatile as their less expensive sisters.

It's become my favorite toy (down Toggles). As it is, incredibly powerful and very demanding of the computer. It crashes frequently when I'm not careful and try to do too many things with it too quickly( I said DOWN, Steve!).

Here's what I'm working on right now. It's the kitchen(with exact repros of the actual appliances, of course) I grew up with on the lower east side reimagined as a Geneva Kitchen with pink appliances(it was identical to this only all white on white, with white and blue Amtico tile and dark woodgrain formica counters):

speaking of GE programmed washers...

And then I couldn't help myself but re-imagine the space as the "Nonnie-kitchen-of-my-dreams" downstairs with the laundry conveniently built in to the East wall. With FreeHand I can even have my coveted ATT dial wall-phone in Batman red.

The washer in the 2nd pic is mine, and is available for sale, if anyone wants it. You can email me @ goodsonjohn@msn.com. Serious inquiries only. Need to make room. Clutch is a bit noisy, but runs well and doesn't leak.

So bajaespuma, where do you get reference material or information from to draw the washers? Perhaps a "Picture of the Day" posting. I'd like to see close-up pictures of the WWA9600J washer and the washer itself.

What year did GE stop making the (18 lbs) light-blue washtubs? This tub look bigger than later 18 pounders. I'm I right? Coldspot66 , I have a photo of your washer tub, tell me if there is difference in size with this other photo of a different washer. I'm I seeing things, what you think guys.

Coldspot66, too bad you're 3 1/2 hours away from me. I really like your machine. Here's a little crazy question, were you able to repair the cracked area on the control panel? Also, what year is your washer?

Does anyone know the wash and spin (NORMAL/GENTLE) speeds for the GE's?

Actually Ken, when I was buying my 1978 GE in the spring of that year, the model above my was still the 5-cycle programmed model. So I think it went on for another year or so after that.
