Not good! Why was this person washing lighters, coins, keys etc? Do they not empty pockets etc before they put laundry into the machine???? |

when I think of it now I shudder! My tenant came down one day and said the dryer was taking a long time to dry. So the next Sat I went upstairs to check it out. This is what I found: They kept the dirty laundry piled half way up the front of the dryer , result no air could get to the intake. Next they had piled half way up the back of the machine between the wall and the back of the dryer old clothes, so the weight of them had severed the out-take duct in two. Clothes had fallen into the duct comletely blocking it and were damp and moldy. So no air was getting OUT of the dryer. Can you imagine the fire hazard?? Can you imagine the lack of common sense?? Appliance abuse is everywhere! |

Hmmm...I was just thinking the other day how much better my countertop GE microwave (TOL) at the condo is than my TOL over the range Whirlpool. The Whirlpool microwave and Whirlpool Gold range have been great disappointments. The microwave takes longer to heat than any other I've used @ 1100 watts...exceeding even the package directions on most foods! The range top (metal/porcelin area) easily chipped and the glass top is HORRIBLE to keep clean. A basic Kenmore that I had previous to the WP was a snap to keep the glass clean. The WP has "Schott Ceran" glass top on it and I have to factor in a 30 minute clean up after each and every meal. Some sugar type of liquid splattered on time and I STILL have remnants of it--even though it was cleaned properly. :( OK, I feel better now. Now where did I put that glass scrapper... |

Someone is blaming GE for their own lack of common sense. And clearly, those machines have suffered some abuse from day one. How can you blame a dishwasher for broken glass in the pump? Don't you look in the bottom of the machine to collect all the broken pieces when you find a broken glass. Perhaps if you loaded the machine properly, you wouldn't suffer broken dishware. Shame on that homeowner. I expect she/he will eventually pen a similar letter to the Samsung Service Relations Manager for their shortcomings. Malcolm |

I realize that most american (ha) brands are not made like they use to be, but I think there was alot of abuse goin on. My Sister and Brother in law built a home about 5 years ago, and installed GE Profile appliances in the kitchen. They, to this day, have never had a problem with them. I am not saying there is not such a thing as a lemon, but all brands have them. I think he or she needs laundry sorting 101.I will now retire my soap box for the day.

I agree. GE Appliances can be a hit or miss prospect. I think if you by near top of the line, you might be better off. Some of their cheaper models seriously are not worth fixing even with a minor repair. I used to be a huge GE dishwasher fan. Right up until the moment I installed my first kitchenaid. GE just didn't have a chance. I wish these manufacturers would get away from so much plastic in their machines. Malcolm |

1.) ALL POCKETS OF ANY KIND SHOULD BE CHECKED AND EMPTIED PRIOR TO LOADING THEM INTO THE WASHER AND/OR DRYER 2.)IF THE DRYER IS OVERHEATING,MAYBE THE EXHAUST HOSE IS GOING UP TOO FAR,MAYBE TO THE ROOF AND THE WATER THAT ACCUMULATES VIA CONDENSATION CAUSES IT TO DRAIN DOWN BACK INTO THE DRYER AND CAUSE A STEAM VACUUM THAT CAN OVERHEAT AND RUIN THE DRYER.IF A DRYER IS IN A GARAGE OR HAS A COMON WALL WITH IT,IT CAN BE VENTED DIRECTLY OUT TO THE GARAGE. 3.)THE DISHWASHER SHOULD ALWAYS BE LOADED PROPERLY AND PIECES LIKE STEMWARE AND GLASSES SHOULD BE SNUGLY PLACED SO THEY DON'T BREAK OR RATTLE TOGETHER. The rest of these issues ARE lagit and should have been delt with and repairs done properly with no negativity or drama. But,unfortuneately, the failier to follow simple directions that come with every new appliance is more comon than not and they are usualy thrown away along with the packaging. As far as the dryer goes,I'll bet the ineficient venting by running the exhaust hose up 4 to 20 feet WILL cause the unit to overheat which will eventualy cause some serious issues including a severe fire that can burn down any nhouse , laundromat or Disney ship,Magic. |
