Oh gosh!! One of the most wonderful American washer and dryer sets I have ever seen. And used myself I might add due to Greg having it in his collection. Talk about making somebody feel happy doing laundry!!!!

Picture is of Greg's set taken at the 2005 convention.

When you wash with a vintage Speed Queen. There's nothing like the drama.

Looking at his pix after the SQ wringer discussion, I remembered, after seeing the gleam of the agitator in the scan, that his real agi in his pix is just as shiny and spectacular.

First I've heard of SQ suds--amazing! Wondering if it's a high speed return. So the vintage SQ's do sprays in addition to the overflow--NICE! Will look for flix of this.

Wondering about the word after Suds--I forgot now, had to take a phone call in the middle of this. What does it say and what does it stand for?

Manual

I think it says Manual. Probably used for washing a partial load with less than full amount of water.

Correct me if I'm wrong...

"MAN" is manual fill - no timer advance, just static fill for low-pressure installations.

How does the Suds Saver feature work on a Speed Queen? Does it utilize the standard format (one additional hose which drains into a nearby laundry sink) or does it work more like a vintage Frigidaire?

In all my years here, have not once seen or heard of an SQ suds, and am dying to learn of its method and wonders!

Here's your namesake in the early throes of a suds-return ~

Frigidaire did make a square hose with a ball joint that fit over the tub perfectly, but they, alas, are nowhere to be found.

Maybe this will provoke some Speed Queen Suds-return information. I sure hope so. Eddy could be our man.
