I am going to call out to the Yakima Valley contingent and request the name of a trusted repairman in the Yakima Valley, Washington State. My cousin recently moved and for a period her washer sat in an unheated shed. When she hooked it up yesterday the selenoid water inlet valve assembly was cracked. I'm not sure if she's up to the challenge. It is a Maytag model A490. Would you suggest ebay is the best place to source the part or is there a better venue? Her looks like this one but has push buttons for water level.
Thanks,
Kelly

Ebay is a a good source for parts. It wouldn't hurt to check a few prices from some parts places that are nearby. Part # is 205613.

Swapping the water valve is very straight forward. Turn off water, removed hoses, remove screw (I think it's 1/4 or 5/8) and swing out the assembly. Remove wires from old valve and install onto new valve one by one (there are 4). Remove and install water line (the small skinny one that goes from the water valve to the injector) from old to new valve. Swap water valves to the bracket, and install in reverse.

I am currently bidding on a used valve listed on ebay. If so I'll make the drive down and replace it. Aparently powerfin64 isn't checking in with Yakima repairmen.
