Just thought this might be of interest to someone ...

Old advert from the UK for a Colston Commodore washer dryer.

This site has some rather cool retro UK ads for domestic-type appliances.

Wow!!

I love that Colston washer/dryer - looks so space age!! Those Kenwood dishwashers look pretty good too, I didn't realise dishwashers were available in the UK as early as that! I see Currys have started selling Kenwood dishwashers again, but under closer inspection they appear to be rebadged Indeshits :-(.

Thanks for posting the links!

Jon :-)

Dishwashers have been available for a LONG time in the UK/Ireland and Europe generally. They just didn't become popular in the early days as they were rather over priced and perceived as luxury items.

Fully automatic front loaders are around for a lot longer than most people seem to think too.

Way cool stuff! Love the little fridge on legs.

I'm always surprised at how different UK cookers are from US ranges.

Simon's Skip

That is one cool site. Vintage ads, classic appliances, and BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS!

Hi... I was justt thinking of you and "speak of the devil".

Good to "see" you. You had the best posts to "my" early threads when I was an innocent little neophyte!

be well
