Hi... I have an old beautiful wringer type washer (make Conner Thermo). I want to modify it just a bit and convert it into a beer mash tun. I want to figure out what the tub is made of before I use it so I can rule out any toxic leaching that might happen. The metal inside is like a chrome car fender except for one spot where it has worn off and underneath it copper pipe color. The metal os thin and will dent if you drop a wrench or something like that. There is also a creased seam up one side.

Any thoughts on what it is made of would be much appreciated. I hope to "cook" grain in it at temps up to 175 degrees.

Thanks...

Angus MacKay
