So I'm at Target and I pick up Finish Intensive Dishwasher Clean & Care, and once the cycle is underway, I says to myself "Self! Do you realize all of that stuff goes into that short pre-rinse and then down the drain, ya doofus?!?! You shoulda waited, yanked open the door right after the first drain and put the cleaner in before that nice, long main wash!" So, I come here to ask the experts: Are dishwasher cleaning products too potentially corrosive to add AFTER the pre-rinse and right at the start of the main wash so the cleaner stays in the dishwasher longer? If I do this with the next bottle, am I asking for trouble? |

I bought that stuff yesterday and when I read the bottle I set my dishwasher to the Pots and Pans cycle since it was the highest temp cycle on my dishwasher. I can say that this stuff did OK but it turned the racks blue. And the tank which is stainless steel to have a blueish hue to it. I did a load of dishes on Sunday and I used those SunLight Power Pacs. They have bleach in them and I am liking them very much. To me they clean just as well as Cascade and pacs got off tomato stains off my tupperware. But back to the dishwasher cleaner...it did OK but I dont think I will buy it again. Oh and the PowerPacs returned the tank and racks to showroom new and the blue hue/tint was gone. |

When I was still using the Cascade 3-in-one gel pacs I had to use DW Magic every couple of months to keep the limescale from building up like flocking on the SS tub. Since I switched to Finish Quantum Powerball I haven't seen much (if any) buildup, but it has only been about a month. But I was able to stop using Lemishine in every load and glasses, etc. are still coming out clear and shiny.
