Just what do you think Whirlpool or "god-forbid" Ripplewood are going to do if they get their mitts on Maytag? More likely than not and if history is any guide Maytag will be gutted like a catfish and raped for every penny it's various divisions can bring in, then left to twist in the wind. At least Haier wanted the applinace maker for what it was, and probably would have kept some production in the United States, even if it meant moving plants to lower cost areas. Whirlpool OTHO has moved a large part of it's production overseas and will probably do the same with Maytag. Neither Whirlpool nor Ripplewood are going to at least "try" and make nice with the unions. Both will probably use every trick in the book legal and otherwise to shut things down/cut costs to recoup their costs/make the deal pay. Just my two pence, Launderess |
