Many complained recently that the quality of Equator laundry appliances wasn't what it once was. And now the reason seems clear, the following is from the "Appliance Advisor" website: "Indesit Exposure Equator appliance of Houston is suing Italian appliance giant and one time supplier, Indesit (originally known as Merloni Electrodomestici) for "Breach of Contract, Breach of implied warranty and Interference with its contractual relationships with customers". The Equator complaint alleges that "Merloni changed certain aspects of the units design" causing failure rates to "jump significantly, including specific electronic components that caused product failures, electrical shorts, component malfunctions, control-board burn-outs, wiring harness meltdowns and machines catching fire." These are generally believed to be unattractive product features. Equator is looking to recoup the costs associated with the past and ongoing warranty service. Who is responsible, the manufacturer who designed and built the device, or the distributor who is marketing and distributing the product. We believe that if you build it you back it. Equator's final complaint "interference with its customers" was not explained in the press release, but we suspect it was not related to warranty costs. Needless to say, Equator has transferred its current business to its own factory in China. Comment from Indesit: We are awaiting their comment." This explains the job lots of Equator washers and dryers on fleaBay. Launderess |

IMHO the quote: The Equator complaint alleges that "Merloni changed certain aspects of the units design" is descirbed in detail then summarized as "generally believed to be unattractive product features." So that Melroni can not say something like- We, in good faith, attempted to improve our product by way of employing more current manufacturing trends and technological advances, providing the ultimate consumer with better BLAH, BLAH and BLAH. Althought as with all changes and improvements there may have been a few isolated instances of BLAH BLAH And BLAH, we feel that we were moving towards what is beleived to be more attractive product features overall. Although a ridiculous statment overall, the verbiage chosen IMHO is to prevent certain types of potential rebuttal. |

Yes, but please Robert, for Louis' sake, could you install a bleeping device that covers expletives on his PC? LOL (an in-joke between me and Louis, in reference to the TV repairman on Keeping Up Appearances...) Jon :-) |

I went to the KBIS in Las Vegas last April and I am close friends with the owner and president of that comany,Atul. He has invited me to fly with him this September to the new factory of theirs in China to see "faseII"of their turn over from contracting out to other companies to make their products to being able to manufacture their own.He had some photos while I was there to look at and the CEO was there too.He was real down to earth and in about an hour designed a wall mounted compact refrigerator for lunches/drinks to put in offices/dorms.The door opens down and it's frost free.I just sat there in complete amazement watching him do this.
