Sorry to air some dirty laundry here, but I'm running out of options.

About a year ago, I paid a member on this site who went by the name TIMONATOR, four hundred dollars for this solid-tub GE washing machine, a model I really wanted to have and am still looking forward to:

A couple of months before he offered the machines to me for sale I had helped him redesign the control dial of the dryer so he could match the machines. He posted the results on this site:

I have been trying for months to get in touch with Tim Perkins, or Tim Snyder, of Elyria, Ohio to arrange pick up and delivery of my machines. I have tried emails which have been blocked, numerous telephone calls, and the good old US postal service. Mr. Perkins or Snyder doesn't respond. If any of you know this gentleman, would you be kind enough to let him know that I am trying to get in touch with him to get those machines?

I really don't want to have to take this matter to the courts because I am much more interested in getting these dream machines than having my 400 dollars back, but if he was irresponsible enough as to have disposed of them I want immediate reimbursement.

Up to this point I've had nothing but good trade experiences with other AW members. I know TIMONATOR removed his profile from this site, but I'm hoping maybe some of you might live nearby or know him from other venues.

I PAID FOR THESE MACHINES AND I'D LIKE TO HAVE THEM.

I'm so sorry to hear that. Yes, there are people out there in this world that do things like this , but I never would have expected that it would happen here.

That's horrible, I don't blame you for wanting those machines and I know you've been working on this for some time. If it were me, I would call the local police or sheriff's office(s) immediately and see if they won't do some checking and pay him a courtesy visit. I had to do this once with an Ebay seller and it worked wonders. Filing a complaint should last forever on the offending party's record.

Am Sorry To Hear This

Anything I've purchased off CL or such, sight unseen, is always via PayPal, including my vintage Whirlpool. This way if or when something goes wrong one has options.

Personally think Gansky has the right idea, either that or take a road trip down to Ohio.

Can understand things happen in a person's life, but you don't take $400 from someone and not keep them informed.

I do remember seeing that member name showing up here in the past.

If he live(s/d) in an area where the police aren't overwhelmed, you may be able to provide them with e-mail and physical address information in order to track him down, but that may also require filing some sort of small claim so you have a court order driving the police effort and not just a personal request.

This is so unlike your average AW.org member behavior. Perhaps something bad happened to cause this guy to drop off the radar. My partner recently had a stroke and that took him out of regular communication with a lot of people, on line and otherwise. You never know.

I have dealt with this on several occasion via ebay, but I wouldn't ever believe this to happen here.

A damn shame, really.

Hi
I think its time for you to go down the legal route now, contact your local courts and start legal action. Often just the threat of legal action will get results.
Good luck and let us know the outcome of this.

Internet Crime

spankomatic's profile picture
Call the police. You are a victim of theft/fraud. Call your local police or law enforcement for YOUR area (that is where the crime occured) and make a report. It all starts with the police report. There are probably many other victims. You will need to get a case number. It will be the detectives job to try and track down the suspect, not yours. Let them do their job that they are trained to do. Once they have a "case" Robert might be able to "help" with the investigation with any internet info he might have on the suspect,if they request it. Good luck and I hope they "catch" him/them. Keep us posted.

Jim

Spankomatic is correct.

Contact your local LE or even FBI as this is an interstate transaction. Clearly theft has occured in that you paid for something that was not delivered.

Worry about hurting someone's feelings later. If "Tim" had problems, he should have either gotten back to you and explained or perhaps told someone to do so on his behalf. That is unless he is dead, comatose or some other horrible thing.

In any case it is not good to let this sort of thing go on too long. Persons have been done out of vast sums because they waited (out of embarrasment or sympathy), only to find out it is much too late to do anything.

Having dealth with several members in various sales of items, it really is a shame someone would pull a fast one like this.

I shouldn't post too much information about your intentions here in the group if I were you. Far too easily monitored and can keep the man one step ahead.

Hi Ken

It's pretty rotten that this person has done this to you. As Dan has stated, i've dealt with this on ebay but never via this site.

I do agree with Laundress that maybe don't give too much away as you don't know if this person is watching this site or not...

Baja, how horrible, do not answer me here but if you for instance bought this thru pay pal or mailed a check thru the u.s. mail might make a good deal of difference on how this plays out. I believe there are all kinds of law's about electronic payment scam's and such. Id speak with my local prosecuting attorney in person and with any e-mails, or postal correspondence. While I am hoping this is a mixup, business is business, so to speak. alr2903

OMG

Sorry to hear this is happening to you. I live close to him. If there is anything I can to do help let me know. I also know someone that works for my local court system I give him a call and seek his advice, which I will email to your personal email.
On a more positive note I drove to Detroit to get Keith B's FF's this weekend. The trip was well worth it. I saved all my laundry and just finished the last of 8 loads. Sorry to get off the subject as this is another post.

The longer you wait . . .

. . . the harder it will be to track this down. I'm so sorry this has happened to you, especially with someone in this group.

Make some calls, send a letter that must be signed for -- do something before the statute of limitations runs.

If your e-mails to him have been blocked from delivery, there is a very good chance that nothing is wrong with him. You have to actively select "block user" to block somebody's e-mail.

This guy could be a nut job. I'd start by sending him a demand letter. There are quite a few examples listed on the internet.
Give him 30 days to either produce the machines, or refund your money. Then send it registered certified mail. If you go to press charges, the officials will want to see a copy of the demand letter and proof that the culprit received it.
Best of luck and keep us posted about how this turns out for you.

experience with this jerk! that would be very disapointing and frustrating, to trust someone and then have them screw you like that! i have sent money on several occasions to people i don't know for dishwasher purchases, i realize i am taking a risk and am blindly trusting they will be honest.

i would report it to the police and do as others above have suggested. this is theft, you were stolen from!

maybe this idiot checks in here still even though he is no longer a member and will see that you intend to do all that you legally can do! maybe this will prompt him to come clean on this deal with you!

money ahead of product...NOGO

In my 37 years of dealing with the Public in high end retail sales..$$$$. NEVER pay in full for something, (even with our Suppliers, 50% down till ready to ship) untill you have the product in your hands or in front of you to transport....why did you send him the amount in Full? I would never trust someone, even if they were bedroom buds...I work too hard for my investments and now the truth has stung you...SO Sorry, to hear of your LOSS$$, I can tell you it will cost you more than $400.00 to follow up with legal court action to get the money back...Court costs start at 1200.00 and can elevate to 2500.00 for small claims DIV.>>> OUR WORLD TODAY, the desperation of SOME, exceeds the honest respect for fellow man...as we grew up in this world...it has severely changed..I am 55. He may be having a serious, personal, financial crisis...he should communicate, at least...I'll Call the "BOYS" in Detroit OUT to PAY A VISIT....HAHAHAHAH...GOOD LUCK.!!!
