I don't think people will use these instead of electric washing machines but I do think that it is a much better option than beating your clothes on a stone or using a washboard and I hope that it is affordable for those that still need to wash by hand.

This one spins too :)

The tub assembly has been taken apart from a non-aqualtis Ariston-Hotpoint machine ..... that "toilet seat" like door is almost a signature

Guess that Lance Amstrong legs are mandatory in case one wants a 1600 rpm spin *LOL*

I don't think that "Wonderwash" washer is suitable for developing countries. Looks more like a toy.

Non Aqualtis Hotpoint?

No its actually from a true British made Hotpoint machine before the full merge into Indesit took place.

The design had nothing to do with Indesit or Ariston as it was still GDA when those were made.

and as for the toilet seat comment, that door felt much stronger than the ones they have on today that feel shitty to excuse the pun.

that door felt much stronger than the ones they have on toda

Every one of those machines I know of (including my mother's dryer) has had the door drop off, some more than once.

At least Hotpoint-Ariston got rid of that stupid button door relase, you have to push and pull on the door in the same place at the same to open it with that button. Ridiculous!

Nice to look at, just rather impractical and a poor design

:)

Very strange Matt, none of the ones I knew of did. Perhaps something to do with you northeners having muscles of steel.

Plus you dont see many on ebay complaining broken doors, Just one of those freaky things I guess.

I am surprised to hear that the "Wonderwash"/"Sputnik" is so popular. The plastic construction and size seem to me only adequate for washing small amounts of laundry.

The wonderwash was sold overhere in camping stores for use on campingsites. I don't think it was very popular. What I've heard the people who had one loved them because they cleaned very good. These thingies work with a vacuum which seems to help to achieve a good wash result.

Pressure Washer

Hot water, soap and turn 5 times for a clean wash. -Hot water would build pressure within the wash chamber making it more like a pressure cooker than anything else. good for sanitizing.

Pressure cookers work faster because *pressure* raises the boiling temp. of water. Basically they cook faster cause they run @ higher temps

This washer has not any heat source. Putting the plastic tank on a fire doesn't seem a clever idea ;)
So no matter the way you pressurize it, the water temp won't raise.

True, theoretically you could ... but the plastic tank would explode before achieving the required pressure :)

Aqualtis

Hi Guys.

I had the Aqualtis machine. Yeah, you had to give the door a good pull to open it, but door never fell of, the only time it fell of it when I reversed my car into garage and forgot the door was open, and yes, it was hanging on one thread, lol.

Regards

Paul
