Went to two open houses in suburban Detroit--typical suburban ranches from late 50s...coolest one had among other things a GE electric dryer must have been from around 1955. Rounded-off top (not squared edges), high/low temp toggle, clear plastic timer knob centered in backsplash, turquoise oblong door release to the right-hinged door. Ran on 220, apparently still worked. Also old MOL Whirlpool BD. Even cooler was upstairs...the kitchen was completely unrestored with 1957 GE appliances in canary Yellow. Wall oven, cooktop (one original element!) with pushbuttons in the drawer-front, and...a GE drawer dishwasher. Absolutely pristine inside, apparently works. Two other things of note---the house had an original intercom/radio system, and an incinerator in the basement. |

I would've taken the DW. What a cool thing to go to an old lady's house to find original equipment. |
