The Patent of the Day today, 04.12.10 is for this add-on bleach dispenser. Hotpoint didn't use it for long, even though CU preferred this to the one built into the agitator:

Very cool.

What I wouldn't give to find a solid tub HP from this era. This weekend I found a dealer with a Hotpoint sign with the same badge as this washer, but they were closed for the day.
