Does the Maytag Power-Fin agitator screw hole open into the agitator shaft? If so, maybe squirting some oil inside of the hole will reach and lube the agitator shaft. How about that?

What exactly did you do? I tried hot boiling towels wrapped around the agitator base and inside the barrel...what else?
