Would you believe that a Co-Worker called me up and told me that there is a Bendix in the Bayridge area this morning?
He asked me if I wanted it and I said yes, yes, yes!

I got it and it's in a new home.
Pics to follow.......

Larry, is it a "Baby Bendix" Deluxe, a Standard, a Gyromatic, Economat, or a Duomatic?

Can't wait to find out! Also, it seems you're the high bidder on the Thor Automagic on eBay...excellent!

It's the baby Bendix.
Small porthole with the handle on the door like this one.

My camera is in the shop, but I have another one that uses a 1.44 floppy disk so I need more lights to show the ole girl off! She's in OK condition, rough around the edges but I think she still has a few miles left in her.....
I just can't believe that one of these could be found here in NYC, let alone Brooklyn, NY.

Thanks for the props...

WOW!!! THAT'S WONDERFUL! I HAVE A BABY BENDIX! And it's another miracle I found it in Texas!

The Baby Bendix Deluxe is a bolt-down model with a 4-piece cabinet with a porcelain top, so it comes off easily for painting. All cabinet-mounted decals are easily removeable. You'll love this machine the first time you wash in it...it's no Frigemore! Spin speed is only 311 RPM (I only spin light items like pillowcases since it will shake...no tub suspension)...not very impressive (cleaning ability is marginal to say the least), but that wash action is sure something!

Interesting find and right in NYC. The Bendix gods must be smiling these days. I went to an open house last Sunday - owner was an old lady recently put in a nursing home. THe kitchen was graced with a relatively mint condition Frigidaire Flair range, a built in single dial Frigidaire. Then in the back corner of a dark basement I found a Bendix Economat. A bit dirty, but once I got the lid open, the rubber tub seemed to be in good shape with no apparent holes or tears.

I will need to keep an eye on the range and washer. Can't let those get away.....
