LG has new Top Loaders on it's web site. And new Front Loaders with & Motion Technology, too. Are those going to be the new Kenmores?

Harmony?

mrb627's profile picture
I wonder if these are rebadged GE Harmony machines. Since LG makes the Harmony, I don't think it is much of a stretch...

I am a major LG fan and am glad to see that they finaly got up the nerve to introduce these new models to the American market. The Harmony from GE is the only top loader I would have been interested in having if I had to have a top loading washer.now that LG has these available,I'll have to keep my eyes open and check out Smith's Appliance where the damaged ones from Lowes wind up going. They either repair or strip them for parts. The owner,Charlie, knows my interests and what I'm looking for and gives me great deals, sometimes free,on many different products. My Affinties rock and are beautiful in the office restroom area. There is a small 8X8 room you go through to get to the bathroom where the are set up and are used every day.everyone makes comments on them and asks where they came from. One girl said she needs to bring her husband over because his truck and motorcycle are both the same shade of red as these units and she wants a new washer and dryer.

Smoked Glass

It seems that several of the newer front loader models have the tinted glass doors. Perhaps Sears is a bad influence on LG...

The washers seemed to have disappeared from the website. Dryers are still there, yet

I tried to get info on the dryers but it says that the page does not exist. I wonder since the top load washers disappeared that they may as well.

Yes, the washer page did not exist, either. But you can get the manual for the 6-Motion washer. The model no. for the TL washer is WT5101HV

- 5.2 cu.ft.
- heater
- 1100 rpm
- WaveForce
- IIRC also has a sanitary cycle

They are selling the red Kenmore with TV commercials here, with guys doing cartwheels, and gymnastics to mimick the different motions. I really miss the salespeople in dress clothing and my little complimentary, plastic measuring cup with Sears Kenmore printed on it. The little cup even came in it's own cardboard box, with ton's of amazing Kenmore facts printed on it. alr2903

Flip Top Panel

mrb627's profile picture
There appears to be a flip top door on the top of the machine on the left hand side. Any idea what that is for? Steam perhaps?

Yes, it's the steam feeder. The manual can be downloaded under Support at the left-hand section of the monitor. Or try my link below.

One Thing

mrb627's profile picture
One Thing that bothered me about the screen on the LG set that I had was the arrows. There are arrows between each phase of the cycle, but they don't do anything. Never light up. Naddah. I wonder why they even bothered to put them there. Both the washer and the dryer behaved the same way. Wierd.

Smart moves

bajaespuma's profile picture
They made significant and smart changes to those dryers. I've come so close to buying an LG dryer to match up with my LG washer, but always balked at that small round porthole door which is big on the washer, but small on the dryer. I like what they've done. I guess this is what you can do when you don't have annoying stockholders to answer to.

Really a good machine!

Concerning the Euro Lg top load which washing sistem I think is the same I can say you guys that it's absolutely NOT the 4 hours cycle of tumbling my bedsheets in a such low (I thought for a while that there weren't any water over in) water level, with the TL you can take the load out after 1 hour or less.
Looking to the feature chart then the 8Kg FL has a 62litres of cycle consumption against the 82litres of the 8Kg TL... speechless thinkint that with the FL it'll be compulsory to set the estrarinse using 10%more of water reaching 72-74litres...which difference then!?

This kind of wash action moves the water throught the clothes and not the opposite like FL.

Really effective! I tried it on a dark colours load (I made a cold prerinse to avoid fading with wash hot filling) and the results were great! Hard to believe just lookingat how low rollover but it wokrs!

Don't know whether that machine is just the same (obviously apart from the oustide shape) we have here but honestly I think is the best modern machine I tried since now

I saw the new LG top loader at Home Depot this morning. It is essentially a GE Harmony. As we suspected...

220V and/or 120V/gas combos

laundromat's profile picture
As much as I adore these front loading/square window models and hope to see them increase in production and models available ,I'd wrather see L.G introduce the all in one combination washer-dryers in either a gas 110 volt or a 220volt electric model available. They'd rock.L.G. (if they're at all considering them) need to do it quickly because I heard through the grape vine that E'lux is considering doing it with their commercial combos that are already being produced under the Wascomat brand. They will begin under the E'luxe label and go to Frigidaire once they see the success in sales. Like they did with the new Affinities. They (the combos) are showing up in the coin op laundromats and,so far, exceeding all predictions and expectations.Just like the old Norges they had at many laundromats, customers can load, add the different laundry aids,go do their grocery shopping and return to fold the dry load without having to make an extra trip to transfer from washer to dryer.

E'lux Combo

mrb627's profile picture
I think if it came down to it, I would spend my money on an E'lux 220v combo long before I would an LG.
