Pull the machine out if necessary for clearance to swing the top back and support it against the wall. Or have a helper available to hold it up. Best to remove the water hoses from the valve . . but if you don't, BE CAREFUL to NOT swing the top back too far or the water valve connections may crack or the hoses break off. The water valve is inside the console, and raising the top with the hoses attached rotates the hoses against the back of the machine. ALSO BE CAREFUL of the off-balance lever that protrudes at the right rear from the console. Pull the tub forward a bit so the lever clears it when raising or lowering the top, so it doesn't break off. Remove the lid. Remove the two lid bumpers. Remove the two Philips screws. Raise the top. (The helper holds it up at this point.) Unclip the bias spring at the front left support strut. Unsnap and remove the tub ring. Remove the softener dispenser and unscrew the agitator wing nut that's down inside. Remove the agitator. The basket should now simply lift up and out. If it doesn't, remove the screws at the bottom. Reverse to reassemble. |
