The dryer looks, to still have the "Sears Best" sticker. Is this the same dryer that comes up in POD with the glass windows and the garden? alr2903 |

never was fond of the bds or the dd w'pools. i always prefered the spinning without draining first. lots more action and drama.no sediment laying on the clothes.top loaders, that is.Front loaders normaly tumble as they drain.the other issue i wasn't fond of with the w'pools was the billowing or bubling up of air pockets in the sheets, slacks, dress shirts and socks during agitation on mostly their bds.my maytags never had that problem.they always had great turn over.

I think the washer is a 1977 model. It could be a '78, but that would be the latest. That timer wasn't available yet in '76, nor did they separate the Knit and the Delicate yet. Most models until 1980 or so did not have the Pre-Soak cycle. There's a Penta-Swirl under the hood, and it's an 80 series machine.
I had one of those come through my "shop" in Coffee which was a late '77 machine. The '79 and later machines had the 'ENERGY SAVER' notation above the level and temp controls, and they remained there until the 1981 panel redesign, so this one is limited to '77 or '78. Gordon |

My friend Glenna D. had that dryer & the matching washer in Coppertone. She and her husband Larry received them as wedding gifts in 1967. |

Well i did get them Thanks Doug for posting these !
The guy was very nice and getting his new home together with two kids. He is using Frigidare fronts and had a mountain of clothes lol. The washer seems like it runs pretty well, the control panel buzzes and hums a bit , and i did no water test but the spin was good and it breaks fast so that a good sign. No dryer hook up. They are in my fathers garage at this time. Here are the pictures sorry a little fuzzy. Darren k |

Kewl Darren!
That is one of the best models around if you ask me. Though I love the BOL stuff as I've mentioned, and I also really respect the TOL machine I just got, for many a BOL lacks a lot of usefulness, and the TOL stuff is over-done and overly complicated. This machine has just what it needs. Plenty of temps, a big capacity tub, all the cycles you'd want (except second rinse, but that seems less and less frequent for me with lower suds detergents) and decent water levels. I find a machine in this capacity with only three levels to be a pain because I always want something in between medium and hi, but 4 or 5 levels seems to address that so I don't have to go back and adjust rinse water. Interestingly, you can tell this is a large capacity machine (or that the panel was borrowed from one) by the four water levels. With one exception, all standard cap black panel machines had three or fewer levels, and that one exception was an infinite level. The buzzes and vibrations in the control panel are very common in these machines. You may want to tighten the 6 rear access panel screws. If they're stripped or already tight, you can line the top of the access panel with a layer of black electrical tape and fold it over the edge of the panel. This will stop or quiet the vibrations. Nice washer Darren! Let us see more sometime soon! Gordon |

I'm glad you were able to obtain these, Darren. That penta-swirl agitator should be gentle on clothes, and the dryer looks especially stylish. |
