Hello!

I recently acquired a very nice, low-mileage Kitchenaid KDS-17 with its original white panels. Would anyone have or know where I could get stainless steel panels, or the trim-kit panels that will take cut stainless panels? I'm pretty sure the 16 series panels fit this one also.

This is like the dishwasher I grew up using, and was lucky enough to have one in the first house I bought as an adult. I have had other dishwashers, since, but none can compare. I was really excited to find this one at the ReStore for $40!

Thanks for any help or ideas on this project.

James

Start asking around!

Jim, panels and panel kits for the 17 series have been discontinued for many years. But I am sure that there may be some members who might still have the panel kits from machines they may have trashed or parted out. I know I never throw away the panel kits I have from all the 18 thru 23 series machines that have passed thru my garages in the past, which are all interchangeable.

The 16 and 17 panels and kits are identical so if you find one it will work on either series.

If you are really hard pressed to get the stainless ones, I would suggest you take your painted ones to a stainless steel fabricator and they may be able to bend out a set for you, or maybe set you up with a flat panel to fit over the painted ones with some side trim pieces to hold them in place.
Most of the panels back then were the wrap around type but they had the trim kits for custom panels too so don't pass up one of those machines if you see one for sale. All you would have to do is get the stainless insert made up and you will be all set.

Hope this helps
Steve

See thread #28563 below.

When I wanted to get stainless panels for my KDI 21 a couple of years ago they were readily available for that model.
