I was wondering if one of our members is in possession of a 1959 Lady Kenmore Washer. I am wondering how many are floating around out in Washerville.

The pictures are wonderful. Thanks for posting them. Can you tell me what the levers across the bottom of the control panel do? I assume water level and suds control are the left and center.

Along the same lines as Malcom but different machine.....

I'm still looking for the ever elusive 1956 Westinghouse Slant Front Laundromat Deluxe. To be sure it's going to be extremely difficult to find - don't even need a matching dryer (no room right now) just the washer and that would pretty much complete my small collection.

If anyone knows where one might be available please let me know - thanks much!

Malcolm---I used to have a 1959 Lady Kenmore set. The washer had never been used. In a fit of utter stupidity, I sold the pair after a year to a nice, young Hispanic couple who needed a good washer and dryer. This was before I found AW.
Still kicking myself once in a while over the decision to sell.

In answer to your question: the lever on the right side of the console controls the automatic fabric softener dispenser. The reservoir is located inside the console (the top pops off the console). It will dispense 2 to 4 ounces of fabric softener at the start of the rinse cycle. Or you can shut if off.

Bygted, Your Kenmores are beautiful. I bet those were "shown-off" a number of times in 1959. I wonder adjusted for 2010 $, how much did those cost when new? Thanks for the great pics, alr2903

Kicking Yourself

I would be kicking myself over that too. Although, I have given away my share of appliances only to regret it after the fact. So the both of us are black and blue in spots.
