I have a chance to get a Kenmore Visa-Matic wringer...2 speed, with filter flo and roto-swirl agitator from Habitat for Humanity

THey don't have it priced yet...they have to check the internet first themselves.....

but in the mean time, I was wondering if anyone knew the age and wat would be a good price for this, if seems to be in good condition, just a little cleanup, minimal rust, no chips,,,

model 110.6002800
serial C6319
stock 6280

Thanks

Martin

Martin

It is most likely a 1960.

IMO if they price it in the $75-100 range that is high end of what I would be willing to pay. The $50-75 range would be more realistic to me. How do the rollers look?

I would think 50 to 75 also... what color is it? does it have the chrome wringer? I have been trying to find one with the open chrome wringer in pink. good luck.. sounds like a treasure...

Rollers look ok...I expected them to be blue, of the last one I ever saw....but their white.....it is a chrome wringer head and a white body....odd of the filter flo system, it has a flat knob next to the timer down to drain and pull up to filter thru a hole in the lid, the other flap switch is for agitation, plus a timer with a "hold" selection and a 2 speed toggleswitch.....I offered them $50.00, but they have to check the internet first and call me back....I think it's a neat machien with the roto-swirl agitator, and the skirt goes all the way down to the floor...

I'll let you know what happens

Thanks Guys

Most Kenmore wringers I've seen have rollers that are marbled. I think they look great!

They called me twice....

yogitunes's profile picture
First....they checked EBAY, claims their selling them for $300.00...so thats their price....

10 minutes later....called me again......offered it to me for $200.00....

I told them $75.00 to $100.00 would be my best offer....provided that it works and theres no leaks....otherwise I would only give them $50.00 and thats it!

we'll see what happens

I'm glad that you're holding firm on what you're willing to pay. Too many people automatically see dollar signs when they see the ridiculous prices of comparable items for sale on Fleabay, regardless of condition.

Is that an ebay asking price or the price at which one sold? There's a big difference. Some people list things on there and see it as a way for their retirement to be completely financed.

I asked them where on Ebay they found a comparable price....

there is ONLY one in the "antiques", its a Maytag square tub, which needs a seal, and their asking $400.00...so Habitat feels theirs is a bargain at $300.00....

I told them for that price it better be restored and in mint condition...either theirs or the one on ebay....guarantee the one on ebay is not gonna sell...

I even found a decent looking EL2 Maytag wringer at a yard sale last week....they cut the cord and and the drain hose off, and still were asking $100.00 FIRM....yeah, right!

even if they come down in price, I'm gonna fill it with water and plug it in while I'm there, before I decide to buy it!

Habitat has really changed in the last 6 months...they used to wheel and deal prices, and helped a few friends get some furniture and appliances inexpensively......

now, the price is in stone, and only if it sits for a long time it will be reduced, not to mention their prices going up, a mixmaster I got from there a year ago I paid 10.00 for......seen one the other day there....asking 45.00....I don't need it that bad....and thats with all of their stuff....

and yet a few weeks back I picked up a Maytag set, from 1985, for 25.00, in nice shape, although the gas pipe for the dryer was removed, it was free with the washer....who knows!

You've gotta a real prize comin' and i hope you get it. They only made the lever model for a a very few years then went back to the handles on the sides of the tub. Our friend Walt in Gasport says this version was not a great feat of engineering.

But you'll be the only dude with this version. You pull up for both drain and filter, and down for turning the pump off. One of the neighbors had one, and I couln't keep my eyes off of it and always hoped to find one. Never saw one since--with the levers. Go for it. Hold out till they give in.

I have a Visimatic and I'm nuts about it; mine filters from the side.

Martin, many weeks back did you say you recently wore out a computer that wrote as you spoke? If so what brand, etc, was it? Thanks.

This model has a side-mounted filter with a port for the hose, but I use the filter hole to fill, makes it a little more semi-automatic.

Martin,

Out of curiosity, which HfH are you visiting? I've been to the one in Cinnaminson and today visited the Morris county store. I was kinda dissapointed, no washers at Morris. Was a prety decent sized store tho.

Eric...

I mainly shop the one in Pitman..425 Broadway...856-256-9400..just above Glassboro..about a block over from Route 47...take Route 55 south the exit number 53A, follow down about 2 miles and make a right hand turn onto Columbia Ave, Go 2 blocks to a "T" stop, their on the corner to your right....check the website for ReStores locations....sometimes you have to put in a Philadelphia zip code to get NJ stores....when I enter a NJ zip it gives me Delaware locations

once in a while I'll hit the one in West Creek....a lot bigger, and a lot of stuff...check this one out first if you do, its off the GSParkway exit

the one in Pennsgrove/Salem is a waste....I have a 30 by 40 foot garage and this place is smaller than that, not worth the trip

its hit or miss sometimes...

the computer that typed as I talked was a Hewlitt/Packard Pavillion...from Best Buy...was part of its programming...many many years ago...it no longer works, so I took out the drive and destroyed them before taking to the dump...I wish I could find programming to add this to my new ones...it's a feature you get used to, and spoils you!

Please update us on this machine. Did they come down to a realistic price, or do they still have their heads up their butts?

Why do people cut the cords on electrical items? I hate that.
It seems to be so common.....

Do they do this because they don't want anyone else using it?
