Were these washers and dryers any good? Does anyone have this washer or one like it?

Not So Much

The Gibson sounds like a Westinghouse and has an indexing tub. They were a pretty collosal disappointment to the people I know who bought them.

franklin

i think there were certain durability problems with those and
other franklin built brands(kelvinator,ETC) At the dump 1982-
83 it was common to find mid-late 70s franklin washers with
rustout around the lid opening, evidence of leakage, worn belts,
ETC.The 70s design was in production well into the '80s and
in slightly modifiyed form, might still be in production.
I would like to have a '70s or '80s franklin in my collection.

I saw that they were part of WCI, and from what I've read on here, those weren't the best machines.

tranny looks good

A couple months ago, took apart the tranny of a junked 1990
"kelvinator"franklin washer and was impressed to find all
steel/iron gears with straight-cut teeth, very little wear
was evident and oil was clean-so does look like they had good
trannys anyway.
