Thanks Greg, those are fantastic! The description of the combo sounds very good, 515 rpm spin for that time was really good. Just wonder if anyone has ever seen or used one of these machines?

Wow, the A38 had a recirculating filter system - on a Speed Queen? How cool is that!

*one for the dream machine list*

Thanks for posting Greg, great to see how they all where promoted, the ease of access would be a selling advantage for those willing to work on them...

The Combo looks similar to the Easy range, any links ups??

Had to laugh at the "Sun Blast drying system" with that size wattage heater I`m sure it would be...Lol

Thank you Greg, the t/l must of been TOL with the recirculating lint filter. I did not know SQ ever had this recirculating filter. The combo is fascinating, and good looking. Happy 4th to you. arthur/alr2903

The Model 50 wringer machine w/ gravity drain is exactly the the model that both of my grandmothers had. That's the machine that started my interest in washers. I've got my Grandma Wilde's in the basement, still fully functional and very quiet.

I've never seen a Model 31 w/ the full skirt, a rare bird indeed.

"We reserve the right to use alternate materials which do not sacrifice quality." I dare any manufacturer to make that same statement today.

S Q COMBO

Due to the generosity of Jon Charles I do have a S Q combo in good running shape. We think its the only one in existence, I did strip another one and saved lots of spare parts if anyone finds another and needs help with it. It was the smallest of the U S built combos the design started out as a hotpoint combo in the late 1950s. Hotpoint dropped this design very quickly and went to the GE design for any remaining combos they sold. Some how SQ got the design and down sized it to the same demintions as thier regular washers. S Q was the last U S co. to introduce a combo it didn't come out until around 1961 or a little maybe a little later. At the time they said they had waited and perfected combos, and while it was simpler and had a good spin speed the drum was pretty small and it took a long time to dry with no blower. It was sold as an electric condenser only no gas or vented models were made, I don't know when they quit manufacturing them but must have been before 1970.

Greg - Thank you so much for posting. I wish they would make a combo today. I assume this is early 60's and I never knew they made a recirculating filter.

John, thanks so much for the details, very interesting. I wonder how many of these units were ever made? That is one machine I am looking forward to seeing again.
