Ok my neighbour has recently came back from holiday to come back to a broken washer :( now she has bought a hotpoint which is gr8 balenced a load of towels in one try. her old Zanussi ZWF1421W is sat in my garden i realy want to repair her the problem is, it dosent start the cycle you can set it to cottons 60,40,13, synthetics,60 etc etc you can hit start and the washing light comes on but after a few seconds it goes onto end and the door dosent even try and lock dosent even drain.
i think it is the pcb but i aint to sure please please can you help so i can oder the bi ASAP before it goes to the tip

Hi there, not sure what the problem is, perhaps one of the other Zanussi guys might know. If you think it's the pcb, have a look on ebay you can pick one up quite cheap. Hope you can save it.

Not an expert....

But it does sound like a PCB fault. I could understand the machine aborting the program mid-cycle if another component was at fault (ie heating element or pump) but because the machine doesn't even begin the program, id imagine it's a PCB problem.

Only other possibility would be the drain pump, as Zanussis of this era run the pump briefly before filling with water, so a pump fault could cause the machine to abort at this point. However im more doubtful of this because the door doesn't even try to lock, which it should do before the pump tries to start.

Also i'd have thought a pump problem would send out an error code or a series of flashing LEDs, which you don't mention.
