Here are some pictures of the avocado 1978 Kenmore 80 Series dryer. Again, this is very clean with few scratches or paint chips. Like the washer, the belt will need to be replaced. Other than that, this dryer is quieter than my 2002 Whirlpool! |

Here's a picture of the inside of the drum. There are some paint chips around the door opening, but this sure is in nice shape for 32 years old. |

Yes, there may be paint wear inside the drum and bulkhead, but the rest of the machine is sparkling. I installed a new belt this afternoon, which was cracked and quite worn. Otherwise, the internal components still look great and have lots of years left in them. Rob |

Rob -
You and I could have a contest on who has the most-worn Kenmore dryer drum. Mine is a 1978 model too, but is a 60-series. I bought it for my sister in 1989 for her first apartment. She used it until 2000, when after 11 years and two kids my brother-in-law found out (from me) that it was 22 years old (and the washer 20) and he determined they needed new machines. I was given the dryer back when they were done, but initially I was going to let them go to the Salvation Army, until I realized what I was about to do and went at warp speed down the road to retrieve them. The dryer spent 7 years in storage, and has been a part time dryer for me since then, however it gets full-time use from about April to October. It's located in the garage, and using it prevents the heat from my inside Kenmore from fighting with the A/C. I'll post a pic and we can decide which has less paint on the interior. It didn't take well to be placed back into service, and not long after it got a new belt, rollers, and idler, then a new thermostat not all that much later. It's got a bizillion miles on it, but what a trooper! Gordon |
