That was good. I never heard of AMC before.
Does any manufacturer these days still include boxes of detergent with their machines?

the most you gonna get in a new machine these days is a lousy coupon, if your lucky it's 50 cents off a large box or bottle...

ast Time I Saw New Machines...

Been a few years, but I was lucky to find a little packet of detergent of some kind in the tub, probably good for maybe a dinky load of a pair of socks, briefs, etc.--Laundry Shark

What a Joke!

Getting off the beaten path here somewhat: I remember buying a bottle of Scope Mouthwash that had a dinky little sample packet of Crest Toothpaste, enough for maybe one tooth!?--Laundry Shark

Hey, that machine is a "pig"! I knew of several in the town where I grew up. They were sold at Gambles Hardware stores under the brand name "Coronado".

I don't know NOW, but in 1997,

my Maytag Dependable Care came with two small (coin laundry vend size) Tide boxes, a sheet of Bounce, and a packet of Downy.

Of course, that was 1997.

I have these pics that were posted by Runematic in August of 2005 and March of 2007.

Seems to be the matching dryer.

Dryer looks like a Whirlpool. Notice the tag says manuf. FOR ____.

When I bought my Duet 9200, in '07, it had a plastic flat pack of detergent that did like 3 loads.

I bought another BOL Duet Sport new, in '08, I think it had a small single load package.

These were Tide, of course.

That Franklin dryer was made for many brands. It does look like a Whirlpool mash-up.

At 00:54 in the video, the washer they're packing Tide into isn't a Franklin, but it does begin with "F". Love the clock radio-looking control panel they snapped on the front!

It looks like she loads the tub poorly, putting the entire test load in a bunch on one side of the tub. Silly laundry scientist!

Check it out at about :20 into the video.

This is a fabulous commercial! Did anyone happen to notice the washers on the assembly line getting tide packed into them at the end of the commercial?

Anyone care to guess on the brand and year...?

That looks like a Frigidaire lid, under-lid instructions and top of tub, but I've never seen a Frigidaire backsplash that looked ANYTHING like that! Were those possibly MOL's from the years of the Pulsematics?

Stunt washer! Frigidaire with a mask. I'm sure that was not filmed in any manufacturing plant/shipping department.

Did a PERSON actually put the box of Tide in the machines???

I don't know if it was a person or not, but there was a Tide box IN the washer. Our 1966 Maytag had the hoses taped to the bottom of the machine (in the belt area). The feet, the book, and the Tide where in the tub. alr2903

1958 Frigidaire with a fake control panel? cool commercial

Post# 450461 , Reply# 21   7/19/2010 at 10:03 (5,001 days old) by lesto (Atlanta)

Rich's department stores in Atlanta sold AMC washers & dryers along with a few other items in the 1960's. We had an AMC window fan in the laundry room window. The washers operated very much like an Easy.

If you look closely you can see the oval badge on the front of the machine. This makes it a 1959 Imperial or Custom Imperial Frigidaire multi-matic with a faked control panel covering the real control panel.

Its funny that Tide used Frigidaire washers because as far as I know GM never packed any detergent in any of its automatic washers.

I hate to say it, but that console really is an ugly betty.

Could this have been a variation that was sent to another country?
Canadian Frigidaire, Jamaican Frigidaire, Portugese Frigidaire, etc.

Think about it...Dayton is 50 miles up the road from Cincinnati, they can run up there to film on the Frigidaire production line very easily.

57 imperator that had to be recalled due to over-sudzing with the original free sample of "JonDash", hence the later batch with Tide??

Well I wouldnt have worked it out, looked like a good lifelike model to me!!

Oh Al, me thinks its the nearest we are going to get to seeing one in action, although when you do look the sudz cover the agi and the way its moving almost makes it looks like a Frigidaire...take a look and see what I mean!!
