That was good. I never heard of AMC before. Does any manufacturer these days still include boxes of detergent with their machines? |

Been a few years, but I was lucky to find a little packet of detergent of some kind in the tub, probably good for maybe a dinky load of a pair of socks, briefs, etc.--Laundry Shark |

Getting off the beaten path here somewhat: I remember buying a bottle of Scope Mouthwash that had a dinky little sample packet of Crest Toothpaste, enough for maybe one tooth!?--Laundry Shark |

my Maytag Dependable Care came with two small (coin laundry vend size) Tide boxes, a sheet of Bounce, and a packet of Downy. Of course, that was 1997. Lawrence/Maytagbear |

I don't know if it was a person or not, but there was a Tide box IN the washer. Our 1966 Maytag had the hoses taped to the bottom of the machine (in the belt area). The feet, the book, and the Tide where in the tub. alr2903 |

Rich's department stores in Atlanta sold AMC washers & dryers along with a few other items in the 1960's. We had an AMC window fan in the laundry room window. The washers operated very much like an Easy. |

If you look closely you can see the oval badge on the front of the machine. This makes it a 1959 Imperial or Custom Imperial Frigidaire multi-matic with a faked control panel covering the real control panel.
Its funny that Tide used Frigidaire washers because as far as I know GM never packed any detergent in any of its automatic washers. |

I hate to say it, but that console really is an ugly betty. Could this have been a variation that was sent to another country? Canadian Frigidaire, Jamaican Frigidaire, Portugese Frigidaire, etc. |

57 imperator that had to be recalled due to over-sudzing with the original free sample of "JonDash", hence the later batch with Tide??
Well I wouldnt have worked it out, looked like a good lifelike model to me!! Oh Al, me thinks its the nearest we are going to get to seeing one in action, although when you do look the sudz cover the agi and the way its moving almost makes it looks like a Frigidaire...take a look and see what I mean!! |
