Got a phone call wednesday in response to my wanted add in a local paper.
I explained i wanted old Hoover Keymatics etc (thinking why do people never read the add properly) The guy says ill read out whats on it, and reads off the above :-)...........well my attitude changed slightly and a price (£20.00) and collection date was agreed. I spent most of Wednesday thinking what sort of state will it be in...........thinking the worse He also explained that the reason it was going was because it no longer span (no problem i thought) Went down to a place about 35 miles from me called St Austel found the place and to my surprise it is not bad condition at all, a bit grubby, a little bit discoloured (nothing new there). Got it back to the garage sure enough the spin was crock, so i have stripped cleaned and serviced the motor and replaced the two stubs that would have been brushes at one time. The control panel mount is broken in one place so the first of the option buttons are not proud, this i can repair whilst i strip the fascia off to clean it all up. All the options work and the drum bearings are smooth and silent, so i am optimistic about this machine, it completes my line up of early Hoover computer control machines for now Here are a few crap fots, by the time i got to the garage my phone battery had died. But i will do more in time Gary |

Nice one! Was looking forward to using Mike's last time until we found out it didn't want to play :(. Tis a beautiful machine, almost the match for our first dishwasher! Jon |

I have had a very busy day sorting out the computer logic, it has had its pound of flesh so to speak, how the previous owner ever managed with it puzzles me, but hey ho I got it all sorted in the end I spent about 6 hours at the garage with it
Mechanical Jobs done so far: Motor stripped, cleaned, lubricated, new brushes fitted. New Drive belt New spider, the old one was loose on its cast in metal spacer New water level bowl, the old one was so clogged that the machine thought it hadn’t pumped out fully and was flashing “F2” error code. I had to drill out the remains of the plastic tube that goes through the back plate as this had seized in there Lubricated the pump Cleaned the suspension legs one was covered in dried soap powder Replaced the Hot water inlet valve as this was not working Repaired PCB mounting on front panel as this was broken De-gunked the soap draw and tray it was they were both thick with washing powder/liquid deposits (see picture) Flushed the machine through loads of times and did a boil wash to remove soap deposits (see picture of water pumping out with lumps of soap powder) Cleaned front panel and wiped down machine. Jobs to do: Re-paint with hammerite rear back panels, as there is rust on them from a leaking hot water inlet pipe. Possibly replace the suspension guides I think they are worn Tests Have done two washes 90/60 degree cottons both without any problems, a very nice machine I might add J and I am pleased to have gotten one The machine is in good condition the main problem being carbon dust from the worn out motor brushes having covered nearly everything with a fine layer I have taken some fots of the machine for you to see |

OK matey i am impressed :-) so the acid test would be get an old Hoover logic 800 stick loads of different colour LED's on it and a few numeric displays, built in strobe for setting spin speed, and a pitch control (illuminated of course) for adjusting spin speed as desired and see if can tempt you with that :-) me old muckah! :-) |

well as a child i hated being dragged around museums (not much different now)...........but if i went to one and saw that lovely display that would make the trip worth it for me.
Excellent picture Paul Well I do intend doing vids of the machine but at the moment i am tinkering with the motor again, as i think the armature has worn a little too much, if i cannot correct it then ill have find another motor......... So thanks for all your comments lads, i will be back Gary |
