My cabin came with a GE WSW2420DWW Spacemaker laundry center. It's a clone of the WP LTE5243DQ. I can't figure out how the spray rinses work. There are 3 sprays after the wash cycle. But it seems that the fill flume is set up to fill the outer tub. So the logistics of how the sprays can actually rinse the clothes escapes me. Any ideas? (plus the aggravater takes up way too much tub room)

Perhaps it is meant more as a flush-rinse to clear the hoses and sump of suds to have a cleaner rinse?

Today's front-loaders don't do a spray-rinse either; spinning whole spraying water would only generate foam at the bottom of the machine, they do flush-rinses while tumbling slowly.

I seem to remember someone posting about the slits cut out on the basket top at an angle, somehow these cutouts direct SOME of the water into the spinning basket. Anyone else remember this discussion? alr2903

Never thought about the suds rinse/purge idea. It does whip up a bunch-o-suds during wash.

If it's the same as my Kenmore portable on bottom, that's what the angled tub holes are officially for. Even under perfect water flow, water doesn't "spray" from the holes but only runs through them into the tub. When the spray rinse hits it, it would only be sprinkling the clothes in the tub, but it could purge the system as was said before.

Dave that's exactly what it does! Haven't had time to look under her skirt, but acts like a direct drive kenmore. It starts on fast agitation to beat the clothes into submission and then shifts to slow. Starting to get some "knocking" on agitation that wasn't there before. Do these have the rubber motor coupler?

They sure do. It's small, but every part of the construction and drive system of this machine is pure DD Whirlpool. If you've changed a coupler before, it's the same aside from how to open the case.
