Hi,

My partner has recently purchased a Bush washing machine from Argos. I have taken a good look at this machine and can see that it is fairly well made. The machine itself is Made In Turkey. I though it was a Chinese made machine part of the Hair line but its not by the looks of it.

It is fairly quiet but a few things I don't like about the machine is:

1. The machine takes ages to do a cotton wash

2. The motor is quite audible - perhaps the same as the latest generation Indesits, its slightly noiser compared to my AEG.

3. It is FAR TOO fussy with balancing loads. I cannot believe that it has such low tolerences with the loads. The washing maybe slightly out of balance and the machine will stop the drum and rotate the other way and then try the spin again, on one point it did this up to 14 times - This in turn prolongs the cycle. The machine suspension is obviously not strong enough to deal with more severely out of balance loads which is maybe why the sensor is set this way - who knows. One thing is that it is annoying. One thing I am glad about is that my AEG Lavamat just gets on with the spin even if it does occasionally bang, the machine is well made is it can withstand out of balance loads.

4.The quick wash is only 33 mins, the wash is only around 8 - 10 mins, don't know how this is going to get the clothes clean.

5. The machine is an unknown brand so don't know about reliablilty on this machine.

Anyone got any experiences of Bush machines?

Bush are argos's own brand. If it's made in Turkey, it's possibly made by Beko. Their lower end machines are well known for taking ages. However, Beko are one of the unfussiest brands in terms of balancing on the market - they just go for it, a little like an old Hotpoint, regardless of how much of your floor or worktop gets bashed to bits. The buttons and the door do make me think this could be a Beko made machine. Is that a rinse in the shot? Looks like a nice deep rinse level :)

well...

 my friend's mum orderd a beko washing machine but when the beko came the was a mix up with orders and she ended up with a rebadged haier. apperently it is good i was shocked when she told me it was good!! but once she did a load of jeans and when the washer finished they smelt like burnt rubber hope yours dosent do that aegokocarat:)

How unfortunate that your friends Mum should end up with a Haier. They are truly awful machines, whereas Beko are pretty damn good for the price

yep i know she also has a beko dishwasher wich at a week old leeked everywhare he dad crossthreded the pipe at the back woops then after he had slid it back into place it spopped working but then he accidently kncked it when he slid it into place and hay it's alive!!

Made in Turkey......

 makes me think Beko, like AquaCycle said. And the buttons do look like some of Bekos higher spec machines from a few years ago. However, the door isn't really very Beko-esque and the dial appearance and location isn't either.

Does anyone else make washers in Turkey other than Beko though?

there is a finlux branded machine over here...in harvey normans that looks the exact same.guys lay of the haier bashing...our haier is 2 years going strong-no breakdowns....were as most will knnow my view on beko- i hate them!....

Possibly Argos have seen the light and dumped Haier- my previous workplace is a Argos in guarantee repair agent and so I KNOW how badly made Haier machines are- in particular the electronic aspects.

Looks quite similar to Vestel machines I've seen on the web - if I remember rightly they are made in Turkey too.

The moulded shape of the control panel also looks quite similar to the Vestel-made BOL Whirlpools that you can pick up in various places

Crosslee don't make washing machines - they were rebadged Fagors last time I looked

Edit: After looking at the Crosslees - tehy do indeed look very similar - perhaps the White Knight do come from the same source as the Bush, or the Bush machine is a Fagor. That or I've just completely confused myself lol.

Id say Vestel from looking at their web site. Well hopefully the machine will provide my partner a few years of use though I would plan to replace this with a Zanussi or similar when I move into the flat as I really do not like how long this Bush machine takes!! A 2 and half hour wash easily becomes over 3 hours with the machine constantly trying to balance itself when it should just go into a spin!

I used to complain that my AEG would spin when it is unbalanced but at least it gets the cycle completed within its 2 hour sequence, of course it takes short cuts on the rinse cycle if it can do so but it gets the washing done but the Bush just goes on and on which is slightly annoying when you want to go out and not leave the machine on. The only advantage is that the machine always spins balanced which is good as its in a block of flats in SW London and any little noise would go downtairs and upstairs into the other flats.

I really like Electrolux made appliances as these seem to be really good value for money, am very glad that in 2002 we chose our AEG over the Bosch or Indesit.

my best friend bought a bush washer from Argos,after a couple of months it packed in and took the engineer 5 weeks to get it fixed,My auntie and my cousin recently bought bush too so we'll see how long they last before the problems start,personally i don't think i'd ever buy one if i needed a new one
