I am beside myself, I have just got home and opened the dishwasher to empty and noticed I have done the most STUPID THING!

I filled up the salt last night and set it off on an intensive wash, however FORGOT to put the cap back on the salt resiviour.

So with the cap off the cycle has been run and complete, so detergent and rinse aid have been in the same water as the salt. ( My salt resiviour is always full of water, it was not too murky and looked like it usually does with no obvious bits floating in it).

The instructions said that I must NEVER put detergent into the salt box as it will destroy the resin softner in it, and now I am worried I have done this.

I came home and put a few jugs of water through the salt compartment but could not empty it of salt and water. I then filled it right up with salt to try and displace as much water as I could.

Its now running on a quick wash.

Please can anyone give me any advice as to if I have broken my softner and anything else I can do to try and rectify this.

I use a powder detergent if that makes any difference?

Do you think that much detergent would have gotten into the softner.

Oh the reason Im so upset is because its a virtually new Bosch machine and cost me a fair whack.

Thanks

(Stupid) Mr Sparkle

I pesronally cant see it doing any harm. I think if you put pure dishwasher powder in there then maybe a different story. i would personally do a few quick washes with no dishes etc leave top off salt dispensor and then refill with salt it shoule be ok. I have never done what you done and left the top off but thankfully i live in a soft water area. Hope your machine is ok bud.
