The long-anticipated arrival of my dream machine, the 1952 Frigidaire WO-65-2 Unimatic (with overflow rinse), wasn't so long after all...by Tuesday night there was a large box sitting alongside the (also boxed) '59 CI range in the garage!! School was officially "back in session" yesterday so I haven't been able to do much with it yet, but I did remove the excess packaging, clean it up (there was a ton of styrofoam "dust" in the base that I had to vacuum out, not to mention a good Windexing), and snap a few pictures!!

Robert did an absolutely wonderful job on the restoration work. This machine looks like she just rolled off the assembly line at the Frigidaire plant! New for 1952 inside and out!

Not to mention she's near-silent...you can hardly hear the pulsation, and the mechanism and tub/agitator have that nice "vintage" smell to it. Now I know...Greg's basement smelled like Unimatic the whole time during the Convention!! There's just something about the scent that comes from the motor that has hypnotic powers...Glade definitely needs to be make an air freshener scent for this!! Call it "Unimatic", or better yet..."Greg's Basement"!! Even "Robert's Basement"!!

I put it "back in the box" so to speak, but it's tempting to unpack everything, move my dresser over a couple of inches and putting her right there, in my bedroom! After that it will definitely be tempting to make an extra-long UniCouple so I can fill and drain from the bathroom sink! ;-)

A "bedroom washer" wouldn't be a bad idea...the machine will be inside (out of the hot garage) and would make a lovely Christmas tree...but in reality I can't wait until everything's done and I can wash--Unimatic style!!

Robert...I can't thank you enough for making this dream become a reality! It will definitely be a great 17th birthday in 9 days!

Any ideas on what to call her? I have a few names in mind...;-)

--Austin

And who can forget the mint porcelain interior! The agitator cap doubles as a detergent cup...but only powders here!

In case you're wondering, the agitator ring looks "wet" because I just wiped it off.

YAY for JonDash...I can't wait to use a vintage detergent formula in a vintage machine!!!

What a great gift for a great guy with a great family! [Not to mention a great giver/donor!!!]

I wish for you that all of your dreams become reality, one right after the next.

Do I smell a Wash-in brewing, or is that the motor?

YAY, it looks like it made it safe and sound. Enjoy Austin, can wait 'till you make your first suds cake! Yes its funny how you can "smell" a Unimatic when it goes into spin, that smell is simply caused by the motor heating up very quickly in order to go from 0 to 1140RPM in 25 seconds. It happens on all of them, as Jon sais we should make a colonge, lets call it:

"0 to 1140 in 25"

LOL.

Have fun Austin.

Happy Birthday Austin!

Sure wish I could be 17 again (well, with knowing all what I know now to boot!) That Unimatic looks like it will be a gas to run! A very thoughtful gift from Robert.
