Interesting set for a handsome BIN. It appears the seller didn't copy their entire description to the add. Instead of 1937, these puppies were made late 1952/1953.

Washer model is a WCG, not sure on the dryer. Would be interesting to hear the full story. Mushroom colored! Wonder what the boot is like?

Should be an interesting discussion/auction.

Seller is probably over the moon with excitement to have a hundred people watching the auction now!

The description - story trails off just at the best part! Look at that 3" vent pipe running up from the dryer - still hooked up.

Collinsville...

Actually, it's sort of a bedroom community of St. Louis now. Sprawl rears it ugly head. Not far from me, but at that price I hope they enjoy them...

Jon, I thought that you were able to acquire boots for those machines. If not these, which Bendix washers?

These machines take a slightly smaller boot, I can get boots for any Bendix after 1955. They changed the porthole in 55. But I am still searching for pre 1955 boots. With the plethora in England I bet I'll find something from a Candy/Hoover/TriCityBendix someday.

hum i wonder.. how heavy is that washer?? a few years ago steve and i did a little road trip and picked a bendix combo in kansas city and took it to omaha that beast was 800lbs. talk about a total nightmare. just the two of us,, ugggg. but il bet if that washer is still in service the boot is ok for now but there has to be one out there that will retro fit for later

You could save them, Chris....
I would bet the washer would be around 300 pounds, the dryer another 200. With right equipment you could move them easily enough!!
So, what were we saying about thinning out collections?? LOL

Chris-

I'm off this weekend if you decide you want to add them to your collection. I'm not too bright, but my back is strong. LOL

Chris, I can only imagine how these two beauties would look after you got done with them. My advice would be to get them!!! A matching set like this doesn't come along very often that's for sure.

Chirs get them

if it doesn't work out down the road ( and I bet it will work out) I'll take them off your hands. So its a win win for AW.org.

PS But I think $400 is very fair for

jetcone's profile picture
the pair. The washer weighs 275 pounds the dryer I'm guessing at 200 pounds so a $1/pound is a good deal anywhere.

Grandma had those reversed! What a nightmare to transfer clothes from the washer to the dryer everyday!!
