These dont pop up very often and this is the first time i have ever seen the dryer to match. Any one got any info on the tumble dryer. There is (what looks like) a drawer on top left hand side of dryer, that if it was a condensor model that would were the water container would be....

yes it looks like they match but they dont.

The washer dials, door, and buttons are totally different to the dryers.

I also doubt its a condensor as there is no access panel for the condensor box on the front and I doubt it would be around the back.

Nasty machines that were nothing to do with Philco as we had in the 80s and early 1990s,

God awful brush motors, noisy drain pumps poor washing reults, a terrible spin, at least that was what was on my Ex MIL's Washer dryer of similar styling.

Remember them being around in the late 1990s sold through Currys and Independants.

Merloni - the Indesit branch pretty much trashed these machines then let the brand die.

Ironic how 80s BOL Bendix machines were made by Antonio Merloni aka whats now/was Servis.

Then the Philco name became part of Indesit Merloni to die out in the 1990s.

I got a similair philco washer for a friend for free and have to agree the one time i did use it the clothes didnt come out that clean.
Only good thing about the washer was it was almost whisper quiet on spin you couldnt hear it.

No info about the dryer. I didnt think it was a condensor model but curiuos as to what the drawer is for. almost tempted to buy em just to find out lol

Those Philco machines are like the washing machine I changed (sadly as it was a beauty) in my current house in Bologna, it was part of the "softline" line of washing machines. Mine was from 1993, it was already part of the Antonio Merloni group if I'm not mistaken

It looks like there is a drawer in the control panel of the dryer.

Actually.....

Those are Philco machines- albiet with probably a carbon brush motor in the washer. As far as I know they are pre Indesit/Hotpoint Merloni takeover.

I sold those new in 1998 odd. The last "Philco" machines were rebadged Indesits- these were approx 2004-2005.

AFAIK Antonio Merloni/Servis never had a connection with Philco.

Yes, you're right! It was Merloni elettrodomestici (now Indesit company) and not Antonio Merloni, but the company was acquired much earlier than 2004, minority part in 1991 and complete takeover in 1995 according to the summary on those documents on the link.

Yes, that's odd! When I get back home I can post a photo of the machine if I have one, the machine was from 1993!

Philco/Bendix badged Antonio Merloni machines....

This model was made by Antonio Merloni, being identified with the different filter cover, fascia arrangement- buttons, powder drawer interior, drum, door handle catch, door rim and door seal.

I cant see Philco having 2 different production lines to produce these low end machines although its not discountable. Perhaps they sold the tooling on to those who dealt with those whom took over Servis etc.

Trying to think of other machines that were similar but badged differently that were available cheap in the UK at the time these were made but cant think of any. (I mean like we had Electra and Servis)

Can only assume models were sold in other countries under other names.

Second machine in the picture seems to have the Philco door handle but I wonder if it was botched together as the A. Merloni ones are prone to breaking.

Like I say im not convinced Philco had 2 production lines making these and the regular models. Considering there was a 500rpm, No options 1 dial Philco/Bendix machine that had the true Bendix door, Round buttons and Philco drum.

BUT

They Hoover was a much much better machine in my opinion...
