Picked up this dryer, guess I couldn't let it go to the krusher either. Anyway I have been looking for something to dry the dropcloths which I do constantly launder but I won't put them in the home use Kenmores. I can't tell what year this is but I am going to guess 1952. If anyone is interested in this let me know or if there is some killer part that will fix your dream machine GE dryer let me know.

The dryer is from 1955

Isn't it nice how coordinated the dryer door opening button color coordinates with the background of the front of the washer with the words clothes washer? Such a nice laundry area with turqoise coordination!!

Lil' control panel CU

Unfortunately this timer doesn't advance, well I'm disappointed but it still turns off and works quietly.

Drum shot

Well, this one has seen a little use, but it sure heats up fine and again very quiet.

The former owner said he had worked on it in the 70s, so some of it may not be too old (!)

Thanks for the year info, it is closer to the Filter Flo than I thought.

Here is what the 1954 version of this dryer looks like

The only real difference is the 1954 model has a different door latch and a little chrome trim...PAT COFFEY

This style of dryer was the first dryer to be made at Appliance Park starting in 1953....PAT COFFEY

This is one big lint filter. Actually this might work pretty well with these drop cloths as stuff does still come off them even though they are laundered. The drum is like all mesh inside a large box that has this pan at the bottom.

Thanks for all that information!

The former owner said he by-passed the heat switch on top -- he said it runs on the lower temp now all of the time -- and looking at the wiring diagram I haven't been able to figure out what he did, it still gets plenty hot though so I guess I won't worry about it.

Had to replace the pigtail on this guy though. Actually the insides look pretty good, though the belt could use replacing someday. The motor looks real good that might be from the 70s.
