Great found Bert!
This was called NINA with Ignis brand during the gold years of Superautomatica and Kinox, and it wash the only one frontloading model among the other best sellers toplading...

Have you seen what I've just found?
Thank you for sharing.

Diomede

I saw a washer with the same cabinet shape and slanted-back
door in a 1974 book-is the philips pictured from around that
time?

Those Philips A models are very handsome machines. I love them. Love the blue accents too. What is the spinspeed of this machine?

Totally love that machine!

Hi Bert.

Thanks for showing us your lovely new old Philips/Radiola.

Looks and sounds superb and really makes me pine for a proper vinatage Philips of my own. Really will have to see whether family friends, up the road from my parents, still have their AWB080 Variatronic.

The classiness of the blue trim pieces never fails to impress.

When you have a spare mo, be great to seee some more pictures of it.

Thanks again.
Regards
Paul

Hmmm Classic? Comedy?

Missed on both there in my book.

I am using a netbook so screen is a bit small - was teh washing machine a Philips? The fridge beside it certainly was. Funny they dont mention plumbing it in ..... I seem to recall at one time they had a Hoover single tub, but that may have been when it was on TV rather than the big screen.

Imagine going to the cinema to see that .......

Ugh

The "On the buses" machine is an older machine, from a previous series. I think you can see a different type of temperature control on it.

the temperature selector is on the right.

Hi Louis and Bert.

When were these two series of machines on sale?

Have seen one or two pictures of the earlier series of machines (the one from 'On The Buses') and of the follow on series (the 303 and 606 - piccy of the latter below), but have always wondered when they were on sale.

Would I be right in thinking that the 303 and 606 were from the same series, with the 303 being the standard machine and 606 the deluxe?

Was there ever a model 101, 404 and 505?

Apologies for all the questions, but really eager to learn more about these smart looking early Philips machines.

Paul

IIRC a schoolfriend's mother had a similar machine as the one in "On the buses". That must have been in 1973 or so. The models shown here are perhaps a bit newer.

There was a 303, a 606. Don't know about the other model numbers, but I think there was also a 707.

The pictures of the 606 are of a machine from a guy from Belgium. He tried to sell it a few times, but I don't know if he succeeded in the end. It's a lovely machine with variable spinspeed.

I believe we had a 707 in the UK. Still with blue accents I believe it was the predecessor to the 082 series machines - I bought one of those in 1980.

As I recall there were two rectangular buttons on either side of the control planel - one under the powder drawer to release it and the other as door release.

I have the notion that there was a Which report which featured the 707 - perhaps Chestermike can help with that

What smart machines these all were, I would not like to speculate on how long the aluminium trim would last, soft aluminium mixed with water/washing powder etc ;-( but what great machines

It is good too see all this

thanks for this thread

Thank you for posting these pictures. Now we know what we are talking about. Odd though that the 707 didn't have a separate temperature control, the 606 has one. I love the blue accents, later series got the brown and somewhat orange accents like my AWB119 has.
