Thanks!

Thanks for scanning the brochure. It is interesting to see how the two models differ.

The brochure says "Selected models are available in platinum." Has anyone seen this color? Is it a light gray or dark gray?

Platinum

Platinum was a fairly light grey witha warm tone. It was marketed for a few years by WP along with Toast a light brown somewhat darker than almond. Late eightis for sure not sure if or for how long it continued in the nineties.

The KA push button rapid advance models are in my opinion the best top loader models post 1985 and certainly my favorite DD models

Platinum is a light gray.
My cousin Melanie in Brandon, MS used to have the set with the mechanical controls. She got them when she moved into her present home about 20 years ago. Around 10 years ago a drunk driver lost control of her van in a curve, and ran it through the front of her garage, hitting Mels husbands truck, which was knocked through the laundry room wall. Either the washer or dryer was knocked over and ruined. The other wasn't damaged and was put back into use after the extensively damaged house was repaired. I don't know if she still has it or not.

Note the agitator in the cut away picture. This was a two speed motor which agitated at high for the first 4 minutes of regular wash then shifted to low speed agitation for the remainder of the wash period. A friend had the electronic machine and I don't think the agitation was as effective as the three speed motor with normal agitation using the medium motor speed and the larger dual action agitator. I still have and really like my KAWE860 washer. I am not presently using the matching electric dryer, but do have the matching gas dryer in use under the deck during the air conditioning season.

I have a brochure from later on, it has my set with the bigger dual action, I have to check, I don't think the electronic ones were available during mine, I remember seeing a set with the triple dispenser like in the Kenmores.....I have a Superba, but I don't think it is a 3 speed, but it does only wash in low speed, medium would be better....
