The machine now has to be unpluged for a while. Then it will work again fine. I do not want to replace the boards. The washer is on the second floor so vibration is an issue. Since Whilpool bought Speed Queen what machine is worth it out there? My Maytag repairman recommended Whirlpool WTW5200. He said it is a basic but very fixable machine, No board issues. The Forums do not rate this machine very well Are the Maytag Bravos any different then the Calypso?

a little correction....Whirlpool bought Maytag not Speed Queen

for a top load HE, I would go with the NEW Maytag Bravos, but you may want to wait, the new washer has been "redesigned" with PowerWash....and the Dryer coming out in Oct now offers reversing tumble....

for a FL HE...whirlpool duet SPORT...designed for 2nd floor installs....low vibration...Even Frigidaire remodeled their FL to compensate for the low water level...

dollar for dollar....best value and simple to fix controls with a long warranty...stick with Speed Queen

just my opinion

if your getting rid of the Calypso, you may want to part it out, at least get something for it....Darren aka aldspinboy in Philly needs suspension parts....just a thought

I haven't heard anything about Whirlpool buying Speed Queen.I know they got Maytag, Amana ,Jennair,... etc. but not SQ.I recommend
the new LG top loaders. They're real nice and do a great job cleaning and get lots of the water out using an 1100 RPM spin.No transmission at all and direct drive mechanism. There's a ten year warranty on the motor too.I went to Home Depot and Sears last Saturday to see them and you can get Sear's version of them for about $900 each.very quiet and the washer lid is "unslamable"!It;'s on a sort of hydrolic hinge and easily drops to close.

I went to a local Appliance Part store this AM. I needed rollers for my dryer. The counterman said Whirlpool purchased the Speed Queens name. I looked it up but could not find any information on it. He was very certain of it but I guess he was wrong.

I believe it's Whirlpool gobbled up Maytag and the associated brands, and Alliance gobbled up Ipso. If Whirlpool did indeed gobble up Alliance, then every time I buy a new part for my Ipso WE165, the packaging would say "FSP or genuine Whirlpool part". Also the SQ, Huebsch, etc. TL washers would be DD, made of inferior quality parts, probably sold in Lowes or HD, and would cease to be considered(by me) worthy of being in any facility in which the application is industrial or commercial. At this point in time Alliance still makes an OK product for industrial/commercial use. Since that has not actually happened yet, SQ is still Alliance, and the new parts that I buy for my Ipso read "Genuine Alliance Part".

SPEED QUEEN IS OWNED BY ALLIANCE

THE SALESMAN (AS USUAL WHEN IT COMES TO SPEED QUEEN PRODUCTS) WAS WRONG. SPEED QUEEN IS OWN ED BY ALLIANCE AND IS BY FAR THE BEST TOP LOAD WASHER MADE IN AMERICA WITH THE BEST WARRANTY IN THE INDUSTRY. GO TO THEIR WEBSITE FOR MORE INFO, BETTER YET CALL THEM AND THEY WILL ANSWER THE PHONE, I HAVE HAD THE VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES PERSONALLY CALL ME TO THANK ME FOR MY SUPPORT OF SPEED QUEEN AND IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME ASK DANMAN...........
