I'm currently trying to re-discover a washer from my childhood!

Unfortunately all I remember was that it was white, and the control was on the top-right on the front of the machine. The dial/knob was a semi conical shape with a flat front. I think the markings were on the dial/knob itself and turned as you turned the knob. Pull start. That knob was all I could see as a kid. :D I don't even recall if it was a top- or front-loader. I don't remember other controls (if any) on the machine. As far as I know, it was an early 80s washer but could go back to the late 70s.

Does it ring a bell for anyone?

A little background: This curiosity started when we got a cheap dryer we had to hook up ourselves (vent and all). Then I decided to look into our washer, a Maytag A207 from I think 1975 that we inherited (runs great but needs new belts - first belt change since it was new I'm guessing). A bunch of youtube videos and searching eventually brought me here. :D

I really curious to find out what my old washer was though. It wasn't nearly as old as some featured here, but you guys dig up some real treasures so I remain hopeful.

I don't want to throw anyone off the trail, but I believe it was a top loader and the dial/knob was silver. It didn't have a window or I would have been watching a lot more laundry back then. ;)

I'll also check in with my parents to see if they have any more details.

Sounds to me that it might have been a Whirlpool washer. Did it have a slant back panel? I always loved that design. Some Kenmore washers had the same dial idea.

At that time, in Canada,

Whirlpool was badged as Inglis.

That sure sounds like an Inglis to me! When you say the top right front of the machine, was that on the front of the cabinet (ie not on a control panel at the rear of the machine)? If so, that sounds remarkably like a late 70's Inglis Citation compact that I had for a few years back in the mid-90s...

Thanks for the clues.

I don't remember it having a separate console. I do mean that the dial was on the front of the cabinet.
My dad says they used to shop at Sears back then, so it might be a Kenmore. So far the closest I've found is from the following site, looking for a manual (scroll down to comments).

I don't remember the black and wood-grain panel, but my memory is fuzzy on the whole thing. Getting closer though. Are there other similar machines to this one?

was it similar to this model?

Post# 472302 , Reply# 7   10/30/2010 at 00:11 (4,925 days old) by PhotonPanda ()

Unfortunately not similar - the key features were the lack of a backsplash console, and the knob being on the front of the cabinet.

I did find another specimen (linked) but no model numbers other than Kenmore C110 from the first example I found. Even knowing that, it's hard to find pictures.

I really think mine didn't have that woodgrain "panel" on the front but it's hard to say without more examples. I guess I'll just poke around once in awhile and see if new pictures pop up. I really don't have a good reason to be so fascinated by this washer but I just am. :)

Oh well. Thanks everyone. Perhaps I'll have something to update one day. I haven't given up yet, but I do have higher priorities I should be taking care of.

Search for "MA101" for the pic in the following listing. I didn't want to direct link, and the google redirect didn't work.
