I just found a nice Maytag A708 washer and matching DE308 matching dryer both in almond and intact.I got it at Smith's Appliance earlier this week and all that I needed to do was replace the "S" hose that goes from the base of the tub to the pump. As I hooked them up for the trial run prior to repair, the washer leaked but the cut was so clean,it was hard to see where it was happening. Once I removed the "s" hose, I saw the fracture and went back to Smith's to get one off another model that was in bad shape. As soon as I finished that, I placed a huge load of bath towels in and ran them through. This was by far the quietest Maytag Helical drive washer I ever had! The belts were worn so,I replaced them and the hoses.Once that was done and I replaced the original agitator with a white one with the exterior fins on it,I started the towels on a hot wash/warm rinse regular speed cycle. They came out great and the dryer just needed to be taken apart and have a good vacuuming done. The dryer has the sensor which works well and the rest of the dryer works great too.I still don't understand why anyone having these would want to get rid of them. They are by far the best washers (top loading) to have now because their agitation is thorough yet gentle on the fabrics and this being a two speed model does great with all fabrics.I noticed the base of the fin agitator where the flex fins are is not as large in circumference as the turquoise one is.I wonder if the did that to increase their capacity? Anyway, it is what it is,a truly nice washer and matching dryer set. Of course, I overrode the lid switch and am planning on trying to replace the pulley to increase the speeds.Just a small amount of rust in the base of the interior I got rid of using a wire brush and some naval jelly.I was sure to replace the jet spray nozzle too. That was not leaking but had stretched enough to be in need of replacement to avoid any future leakage.Once that was done,I repainted the base and did some touch-up on the exterior frame where some rust had started to form. Now dry as a bone and they look brand new. The model and serial number rivited on the washer is not ledgeable but the electrical schematics say it's an A708.Super capacity, white porcelain tub,two speed,5 w/r temp, bleach dispense and fabric softener dispenser. The dryer has two auto cycles and a timed cycle. No heat settings seperate from the dial. Just one dial with dryness selection or minutes.

708? I have no reference to that model in any of my factory Maytag service manuals. Are you sure it isn't a 608?
