Hi All

I wonder if any Europe or UK experts can tell me who makes these? (the first few, the "European Style" ones.) I looked at a couple in showrooms today, some were labelled Made in UK, others Made in Italy. I don't recognize any of them as being from a particular maker.

Is there anyone making washing machines in UK other than Hotpoint and Dyson?

Thanks

Chris

That is Hoover/Candy stuff. Strange they choose for those, not very reliable machines.

Hey Chris,

Yup - as Louis said, these are rebadged Hoover Nextras. This range has actually considerably improved from the last "Six" range (which is the same design as the round-door Maytag models on that site) to a point where the build quality is decent again - and there have been few reported problems in the year or so that they've been out in comparison to the first generation Six models - which were grossly unreliable. Not your AEG, Zanussi, or Miele, but they are still good machines for the money, and considerably better than Indesit, Servis, Beko and the like.

As far as I know only Hoover produce washers in the UK now - Dyson has stopped manufacturing it's controversial Contrarotator (a shame as I was just beginning to fall in love with it), and I've heard that Hotpoint machines are actually now made in Italy, but with a "Made in the UK" badge on the front to sell to the old timers who only insist on British made Hotpoints (a lot of older people in the UK still have a bitterness towards German made products because of the war even nowadays).

Hope this helps :-)

Jon
