I recently came across this Ariston Washer Dryer on eBay, but it seems to have a Indesit door instead of the regular Ariston one. Was this practice common place, or was this model a one off?

That's the normal Ariston door for those models

It's different to the Indesit door.

I know loads of people who had these, I think they were a Currys exclusive.

Bloody horrible machines!, Of most of the ones I knew in use less than 5 years ago, most have since gone to the dump!

But yeah, I think this was the last range of Ariston branded machines sold here.

Thanks for your reply.

I have seen a picture of an Indesit with a similar door some time ago. It also had a Hotpoint drum so it might have been another exclusive; or some sort of parts bin abomination!

not quite, Antionio Merloni is the the company that took over (destroyed) Servis, and many other once good brands accross Europe.

Hotpoint, Ariston and Indesit are made by the Indesit Company, who used to be the OTHER Merloni. They may not be the best but they're a vast improvement over the sh*te Antonio Merloni passed off as Servis post-1991.

Either way, Antonio Merloni went bankrupt in 2008, a sad day for those who lost their jobs, but at least they no longer pollute the appliance market with their useless machines...that seems to be Haier's job now!

Are Antonio Merloni still limping on? Their website is still active and still have brochures for their appliances (the seem geared towards wholesale rather then individual customers) They even claim to have a 33cm deep washing machine - beat that Candy :-p

oh GOD!

It lives!!!!!

At least they aren't on sale in shops anymore, so the average clueless consumer who used to buy them probably won't anymore...
