OLD DRYER

Its a 1962-4 westinghouse slant-front electric dryer { they didn't make gas dryers for the WH label yet ] its the last of the slant fronts. In 1964 all thier laundry products went to 27" in width, the full size cabinets got smaller and the Space-mates got bigger. The real find would be the matching washer the 1959-1963 is in my opinion the best of the Slant-Front WH washers, they held a larger load , cleaned much better and didn't tangle nearly as much as the earlier models with the slanted tub. The dryers on the other hand had been cheapened quite a bit and were not very durable.

We had that exact dryer from '63 until my Mom got the Maytag set in '73. It was our first dryer, and I don't remember any problems with it.

westy's

My parents had the last of the super delux slant front laundromats... from 1963... super cool back lit panel, control togles in pastel colors... it was paired with a 1959 slant front westy electric drier. The washer did 16 years of service, albeit with many many belt changes lol!

I saved one off the street and kept it in my mom's basement until we could bring it up here. The troubling thing about them is the asbestos under the heater box. Since I use electric dryers unvented inside during the winter, I was leary of the increased chance of exposure to any fibers that might work loose so it went to a friend. This is a beauty.
