I went to this estate sale yesterday to look at a few other items they were selling (and somehow ended up dragging home a 1952 Westinghouse fridge!) and saw this Amana washer. I'm guessing this washer is a 70's vintage - the agitator was plastic and it seemed to have some modern details (knobs, etc.).

That is the modern "Speed Queen" style machine made, I believe, in Mexico. There were no agitators like that white plastic thing in the 50s. |

This is the exact same machine I have in my basement - only used it a few times so far - got it from an estate sale - woman I bought it from had gotten it from her mother who had gotten it from her neighbor - wheew! I paid I think $65.00 for it maybe. Looks new but to be honest, I'd love to sell it and get a pink Lady kenmore VisaMatic with a two speed motor. Anyone know how to get the darned agitator out? I'd like to clean up the drain hole area.
